Cash-less Bounce House may not last

Anyone else feel checked out?

The ECU game really made me disinterested in the football team. I don't think it's because we lost, but how we lost and just got dominated. I feel like we had no heart and in a similar fashion, I don't have my heart in it either. I haven't watched any interviews, listened to pods, or really even posted much. Kinda weird because yes, I have been pissed about losses plenty of times, but I haven't been disinterested like this in a while.

Will UCF play Florida in 2024?

With Oklahoma and Texas joining the SEC in 2024, they are trying to finalize schedules and that will likely mean a nine-game SEC schedule.

So that means a lot of SEC schools will be dropping games.

Florida has four non-conference games scheduled in 2024: at FSU, Miami, UCF and Samford.

The latter three are home games.

Who gets the boot?

Yeah, it's a "culture" thing alright.

Georgia had three transfers, only one starter, in its two deep.

FSU's season, meanwhile, was built on the backs of transfers. Five starters on offense; seven starters on defense, 14 transfers in the two deep. They bailed when it was convenient. Nine (75%) of the non-season-ending-injured 12 opt outs were transfers.
Maybe it was a "coincidence." Transfer opt-outs are in bold.

Renardo Green, DB, Sr.
Jarrian Jones, DB, Sr.

Fabian Lovett and Fentrell Cypress II were the other two starting transfers on defense.

Gus's philosophy, like most college football coaches, is to build the team through high school recruiting and fill in gaps where necessary with the portal.

Bottom Line: When your best players are transfers (recruited and developed elsewhere), you are poor recruiter and a poor developer of talent (unless you take over a program from Josh Heupel*).

New Years Resolutions for Gus/UCF fans

For Gus....

1, Learn to HATE losing more than you LOVE winning. Gus lets too many games slip away and exhibits a 'ho hum' attitude afterward.

2, Hire the best people. Gus makes safe hires because he values trust. Winning requires calculated risks.

3, Fire Addison Williams on Jan. 3 and hire Gary Patterson ASAP. Make the money work. It will probably cost UCF $2-$2.5 million to buy out Williams and pay for Patterson (2 years @ $1.25 million per year). But it is worth it. Not only was Patterson one of the most successful head coaches to transition a Group of 5 program to a Power 5 level, he also knows how to effectively run a 4-2-5 defense AND can recruit Texas AND can evaluate and sign the types of athletes who have been successful at UCF for years

4, Hire a gameday coaching analyst. Gus needs a veteran coach to bounce ideas off of. (Terry Bowden is available for this role.)

For UCF...

1, Give money. Keep Kingdom NIL standing. Gus can give you the address if you need to know where to send your tax refund. Ponsi scheme or not, some of the money is put to good use.

2, Drop the LBS. Stop cow towing to idiots from Florida, FSU, and Miami. Florida is the new Vandy. An undefeated FSU got passed over by a program that struggled to beat a directional Florida community college. The u... Where to begin? Miami just completed a 'successful season' based on its average win totals from the previous 20 seasons and lost to Rutgers!

3, Get behind Gus and Terry. Good, bad or indifferent, these men are leading the program until they get fired or you find somebody better. In the meantime, throw your support behind them. Recruits read this forum. If the leaders are always on the hot seat, recruiting will suffer. On-the-field results hurt recruiting enough.

4, Continue to build up the program. Upgrade facilities, add recruiting staff, increase the salary pool, expand the recruiting budget, etc. Throw money at a problem doesn't solve the problem. But doing these things--if Gus isn't the guy--will put the next guy and the program in a better position.

Happy New Year!
