New Years Resolutions for Gus/UCF fans

For Gus....

1, Learn to HATE losing more than you LOVE winning. Gus lets too many games slip away and exhibits a 'ho hum' attitude afterward.

2, Hire the best people. Gus makes safe hires because he values trust. Winning requires calculated risks.

3, Fire Addison Williams on Jan. 3 and hire Gary Patterson ASAP. Make the money work. It will probably cost UCF $2-$2.5 million to buy out Williams and pay for Patterson (2 years @ $1.25 million per year). But it is worth it. Not only was Patterson one of the most successful head coaches to transition a Group of 5 program to a Power 5 level, he also knows how to effectively run a 4-2-5 defense AND can recruit Texas AND can evaluate and sign the types of athletes who have been successful at UCF for years

4, Hire a gameday coaching analyst. Gus needs a veteran coach to bounce ideas off of. (Terry Bowden is available for this role.)

For UCF...

1, Give money. Keep Kingdom NIL standing. Gus can give you the address if you need to know where to send your tax refund. Ponsi scheme or not, some of the money is put to good use.

2, Drop the LBS. Stop cow towing to idiots from Florida, FSU, and Miami. Florida is the new Vandy. An undefeated FSU got passed over by a program that struggled to beat a directional Florida community college. The u... Where to begin? Miami just completed a 'successful season' based on its average win totals from the previous 20 seasons and lost to Rutgers!

3, Get behind Gus and Terry. Good, bad or indifferent, these men are leading the program until they get fired or you find somebody better. In the meantime, throw your support behind them. Recruits read this forum. If the leaders are always on the hot seat, recruiting will suffer. On-the-field results hurt recruiting enough.

4, Continue to build up the program. Upgrade facilities, add recruiting staff, increase the salary pool, expand the recruiting budget, etc. Throw money at a problem doesn't solve the problem. But doing these things--if Gus isn't the guy--will put the next guy and the program in a better position.

Happy New Year!

*****Knights we lost in 2023*****

This is the annual thread so we could honor fans, players coaches and anyone else lost during the year. New Years is a time of hope and looking forward so let’s take a moment to recognize those lost.

I can update this post with names. Mention whoever you’d like, even if they’ve already been mentioned.

I’ll start by honoring @CancerSucks whose post in 2022 gave me the idea to start this. His post was a gut wrenching reminder how being kind to one another matters.

UCF TE signee Kylan Fox in Orlando to play in UA Next All-America Game

UCF four-star tight end signee Kylan Fox has arrived early to Orlando to take part in the Under Armour Next All-America Game on Wednesday, Jan. 3. A few days later, he'll officially become a college freshman when he starts the spring semester.

Rivals.com caught up with Fox during Friday's UA game media day.

Fox made waves last summer when he committed to UCF. What made the Knights stand out?

"Just the family environment, the people in the building," Fox said. "It felt like a family in Orlando. UCF has always been on me ever since I got the offer. Ever since they started recruiting me it felt like a family and that's what stood out."

Florida State came in second, while Fox acknowledged he did consider Mississippi State late in the process. He was locked in UCF though.

What can UCF fans expect?

"I'm just a guy that likes to put my head down and work," Fox said. "I'm a team player. I put the team before me. I'm a tight end with a receiver-type body and I can also block."

What does he need to continue to work on?

"Just being able to block in the box a little more, showing that I can be a true tight end," Fox said.

The UA Next All-America game will kick off next Wednesday at 4 p.m. from Camping World Stadium with TV coverage on ESPN.

Fox will represent "Team Fire" along with fellow UCF signee and defensive back Jaylen Heyward. Another UCF signee, linebacker Qua Birdsong, will line up on the other side for "Team Ice."

Happy New Year! What are your UCF predictions for 2023? 🍾🥂

What do you foresee in 2023, which will be UCF's AAC swan song for the winter/spring sports and later this fall will be inaugural football season in the Big 12.
