OT: Summer Vacation with Infant

Wife and I were blessed with our first child in August 2023. Thus far, any vacations have been via driving and within 5 hours of home. This summer (2024), the boy will be approx. 8-12 months old and we’d like to go out west (e.g., Colorado, Utah, Montana, etc.). Ideally, the activities would include: hiking/wildlife watching, mountain biking (me only), hanging at resort (pool, spa) and having a “nice” town to dine/visit.

Our initial thought was Kalispell/Whitefish, MT + Glacier Nat’l Park, but the drawback was the lack of direct flight/length of time to get there.

Previously, we have been to and love Breckenridge, but would like to see another state/area and cross-off a national park or two, if possible.

Any recommendations, tips/pitfalls for traveling with infant, etc.

Coach Dawkins

Great job by coaching this team. For all you guys that wanted to fire him after last year and install a new coach going into the best conference in the country, take note. He is in one of the most difficult situations in the country as a coach can be in right now. He always handles himself with class and tonight his kids played hard. They could’ve folded early in the first half but they didn’t. That was impressive! I don’t think many of you understand this situation that Ucf Basketball is getting involved with going into the big 12. Great job. (. I’m sure that the Terry haters and Johnny haters will come out after the first loss but we r lucky to have them both)
Happy for you Coach.

“give your BYU hoops tickets away if you’re not using them” thread. Let’s keep the good vibes up!!!! (Update: 4 tickets available for a good home!!)

Challenging bball ticket holders to make sure you are putting UCF butts in seats if you can’t make the game. Lets harness the momentum from that Kansas win and do everything we can to pack the arena.

If your tickets haven’t sold or you can’t make the game offer them free here or the ticket facebook group or get @dali drama or another power user to re tweet you on Twitter

Likewise if you are looking for tickets please post here so people know you’re in the market. No shame in grabbing a freebie if that’s the motivating factor to put get more true fans in the house

let’s do it!!!!

Also, related: I have the rest of the season open outside of my OU tix that are claimed

If anyone wants 2x for WVU (1/23), Baylor (1/31), Cincy (2/17) please let me know.

They’re not great seats (2x on an aisle, upper section) but it’s a small arena and free is free. I just ask you text me a pic from the seats and get extra loud

Big 12 Announces Fine of UCF

In accordance with Big 12 Conference Principles and Standards of Sportsmanship, the Conference has issued a $25,000 fine of UCF for the court storming that followed Wednesday’s men’s basketball victory over No. 3 Kansas.

“Ensuring a safe environment for all players, coaches, officials and support staff is paramount,” said Big 12 Conference Commissioner Brett Yormark. “Although well intended, the UCF event management policy did not provide for the protection of the visiting team and game officials to safely exit the court.”

Where do you draw the line?

The Chiefs and Dolphins playoff game tomorrow is set to be played in below freezing temperatures, -30 degrees with the wind chill. It looks like people are deciding not to go because of it. Resale tickets are available for $40 right now which is basically giving them away. I have to imagine getting to and from the game at night is going to be a nightmare. You figure the average fan gets to the stadium at least an hour or two before kickoff, then sits in their seat for 4+ hours for the game, then has to try to get home safely.

I think the coldest game I've been to was at the old Giants Stadium with temperatures in the single digits and some bad wind. When we went to the Peach Bowl it was freezing outside but luckily the game was played indoors. I still would have gone if the game was outside that day, but how much colder would I have been willing to tolerate? I think the temperature in Atlanta that day was in the teens, tomorrow's game will be almost 50 degrees colder. I don't think there is any way in hell I would go to any sporting event in those conditions. Maybe it's just me getting older but it just sounds miserable and stupid when you can easily watch it at home or an indoor bar. I ask the diehards in here, where do you draw the line to say you would not go to a UCF game because it's too cold?
