The final video from today. The first series of clips are short throws by the quarterbacks.

A quick throw from Mikey Keene prompts Gus to say, "I like that!"

I move back for a better angle, and the next QB you see is John Rhys Plumlee (10), then Parker Navarro (14), Joey Gatewood (7) and Thomas Castellanos (12).

There is a Jordan McDonald sighting (No. 9). He's huge.

Small tidbit re NCAA Football game

Friend of mine from back in the day is involved over there

UCFs stadium is the first one the team working on the new project modeled out. Presumably that means they worked hard to ‘get it right’ - apparently it looks awesome.

Not ground breaking news but still…. Pretty neat to know we’re able to leverage the local advantage. I wonder if they got the big goofy citronaut added 🤔

Noticed this about Mikey yesterday

The kid has that look in his eyes. Determination! It reminds me of McKenzie. I noticed I was very relaxed and confident in Mikey the rest of the way after noticing that look.

He's calm, focused, and confident. Didn't feel this way about him last season. You can definitely tell he's grown from a freshman to a sophomore. I have no worries with Mikey behind center!

CGD in NOLA @ Tulane vs UCF? Nope! CGD SUCKS ANYWAY!! 🖕

During the Tulsa versus Tulane game, the color commentator said there were rumblings that they may be headed to New Orleans for the UCF versus Tulane game.

They also said UCF needs to take care of business today. They said this is the first time today ranked Tulane will be playing against a ranked team since 1929.

Stumbled across this video.. Joe Lisi clearly did 0 research.

Says he gives UCF the QB Edge because of JRP's passing ability. Pratt has a higher comp % and TD/INT Ratio.

Says Tulane runs the ball more effectively. We are 8th in the nation at 239 Rush YPG, Tulane is 46th at 180 Rush YPG.

Tulane QB Michael Pratt: "We're fired up" to play UCF ⚔🌊🏈

Tulane quarterback and Florida native Michael Pratt is in his second year as the Green Wave's starting quarterback.

He spoke to the New Orleans media following Tuesday's practice in advance of Saturday's game against UCF.

To start things off, Pratt was asked a question about the significance of being treated to a "Sno-Ball" (basically a Snow Cone) and whether that's perhaps a metaphor for their season.

"It's extra motivation and it's exciting," Pratt said. "It represents a win. When we come out here on Tuesday and they tell us we've got Sno-Balls it's exciting for the whole team."

Then he gets into talking about this big matchup against UCF.

"We're fired up to have another opportunity to play a big team and showcase what we can do," Pratt said. "It's definitely a big game. Top 25 matchup. We're fired up."

As for missing out on College GameDay, Pratt said it would've been cool but it doesn't make a difference to the players. He did say it was a "missed opportunity" for ESPN by not showcasing New Orleans and Tulane's big turnaround after a tumultuous 2021 that saw the team relocated to Birmingham for several weeks following the impact of Hurricane Ida.

Pratt was asked if he entertained the thought of transferring after last season but he said it was never a consideration.

He added it was "really cool" to see a ranked Tulane hosting another ranked team for the first time since 1949.

What's his impression of "Central Florida?"

"They've got a good talented team," Pratt said. "They play hard. They have a physical d-line. I think it's going to be a shootout. They've got a high-powered offense. We've just got to take care of the ball. Turnovers are going to be huge. We've got to be consistent with that and not turn the ball over. We've got to put points on the board."

Tulane Matchup

Has anyone watched much of them this year?

Looking at their box scores they’ve actually been outgained in 3 of their 5 conference wins. Seems like they have a pretty good pass defense and average rush defense.

The little bit I’ve watched of them on offense seems like they try to use their speed against teams which I think actually plays into our defense. However it’s concerning how many injuries we had on defense yesterday.

All that said I think they’re a pretty good team I’m just not sure they’re truly one of the two best teams in the AAC. Really favorable conference schedule so far with ECU and Memphis at home and at Tulsa with their backup QB. Mix in dogshit usf and Houston and you get to 5-0.

OT: C-USA signs TV deal with ESPN, C-USAction to commence next October

SBJ:

The new-look Conference USA will shift its entire slate of October football games to midweek evenings starting with the 2023 season. CUSA, which will add five new members for the 2023-24 academic year, will play most of its October league games on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, with a handful of games also planned for Thursday and Friday nights. The strategy mimics the Mid-American Conference’s schedule, which plays all of its November games during the week in what it calls “MACtion.”

The midweek scheduling component is part of a five-year media rights contract the conference signed with CBS Sports Network and ESPN. The deal includes a one-year option held by the networks. Representatives of the conference and the networks would not comment on the value of the deal, but sources said CUSA schools would be making in the neighborhood of $750,000 per year each, which would slot them just behind what schools in the Sun Belt and MAC are making.

The conference prioritized two aspects of the new arrangement: It wanted the type of exposure that two national TV networks can provide. And it wanted to make it easier for its fans to find the games. Conference USA schools complained about the conference’s old media deal which divided games across four media partners -- including Facebook and NFL Network -- making it difficult for fans to find the games. When CUSA Commissioner Judy MacLeod went to CBS and ESPN to negotiate a new deal, consistent broadcast homes were among the most important aspects.

CUSA, which worked with Octagon as its media adviser, held up the Sun Belt and Mid-American conferences as examples of how non-Power Five leagues could adapt to alternative schedules to maximize exposure. The Sun Belt plays a handful of tis games on Wednesday and Thursday nights as well.

Maximizing exposure was especially critical to CUSA because it has five new members joining the league in 2023 -- Kennesaw State, Liberty, Jacksonville State, New Mexico State and Sam Houston State. They’ll combine with CUSA holdovers Florida International, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee State, Western Kentucky and UTEP to form the 10-team league.
