Tulane quarterback and Florida native Michael Pratt is in his second year as the Green Wave's starting quarterback.
He spoke to the New Orleans media following Tuesday's practice in advance of Saturday's game against UCF.
To start things off, Pratt was asked a question about the significance of being treated to a "Sno-Ball" (basically a Snow Cone) and whether that's perhaps a metaphor for their season.
"It's extra motivation and it's exciting," Pratt said. "It represents a win. When we come out here on Tuesday and they tell us we've got Sno-Balls it's exciting for the whole team."
Then he gets into talking about this big matchup against UCF.
"We're fired up to have another opportunity to play a big team and showcase what we can do," Pratt said. "It's definitely a big game. Top 25 matchup. We're fired up."
As for missing out on College GameDay, Pratt said it would've been cool but it doesn't make a difference to the players. He did say it was a "missed opportunity" for ESPN by not showcasing New Orleans and Tulane's big turnaround after a tumultuous 2021 that saw the team relocated to Birmingham for several weeks following the impact of Hurricane Ida.
Pratt was asked if he entertained the thought of transferring after last season but he said it was never a consideration.
He added it was "really cool" to see a ranked Tulane hosting another ranked team for the first time since 1949.
What's his impression of "Central Florida?"
"They've got a good talented team," Pratt said. "They play hard. They have a physical d-line. I think it's going to be a shootout. They've got a high-powered offense. We've just got to take care of the ball. Turnovers are going to be huge. We've got to be consistent with that and not turn the ball over. We've got to put points on the board."
