AAC Championship Records Misleading

I'm specifically referring to this Wikipedia page where UCF and Cincinnati are both tied for AAC Championships but this is really misleading. It only counts from 2015 and beyond since that is when they started doing the division championships game yet it neglects our amazing 2013 run (which we won our first NY6 bowl) and also another championship in 2014. There should be some mention of this somewhere on the header of this page.

And for those wanting to say "ohhh go look at the official American conference website" that equally doesn't have a single page that points out overall conference winners. It just does it by year: https://theamerican.org/standings.aspx?standings=1

So far this is the best, no bs-website that shows every year's winner:

Should not Wikipedia state this as it's the most commonly used site for these kind of things?

New Orleans Entertainment (Jazz and Blues Clubs), other sites to see in New Orleans.?

So there are at least 3 threads on here about going to New Orleans and all of them have a few restaurants mentioned in them. I think it would be great to have one thread that just list restaurant recommendations in New Orleans. It would be nice to have different price points as well. I have not spent a lot of time in New Orleans so I am not super familiar with all the different offerings. Whenever I have gone I have found some good food, but I would like to try some recommended places. I also love Jazz and Blues, one thing that was a little disappointing to me was that most of the Bars on Bourbon street are playing 80s hair band music (which I don't mind but not what I want to listen to when I am New Orleans).

The one place Mrs. Z and I found last time we were there was: https://fritzelsjazz.com/
That became our place, my guess is it will become our place again. So if it is not during the game you will probably find us there LOL!

UCF Football X's and O's Film Breakdown: UCF and Cincinnati

The Sons of UCF and UCFXOS collaborate to bring you a film breakdown of the UCF Football win over Cincinnati from the 2022 season. In this contest, UCF racked up over 250 rushing yards and backup QB Mikey Keene made efficient plays to lead the Knights to a 25-21. UCFXOS, Andy Bartsch, helps to break down some of the key plays and moments to the game, including QB decision making and the UCF offensive line.

OT: Vegas off strip

I'll be heading to Las Vegas for a few days in December, about a week before Christmas Eve. This will be my third time in about a year. The first two trips I stayed on the strip (Paris and Cosmopolitan). This time I'm thinking about staying off the strip. I feel I've seen enough of the strip and Fremont area, want a more relaxed visit this time.

Anyone have any recommendations for good hotels, not too expensive, with lots of good non-touristy restaurants around?

OT: Big Ten getting rid of divisions in 2024 and one coach is THRILLED!

Probably the happiest person of all is James Franklin at Penn State...who generally loses to both Michigan and Ohio State most years.

Franklin openly spoke about the ending of divisions this week and is definitely looking to play more games vs the "weaker" West Division opponents.

From his presser:

"As we look, whether it's the Big Ten East or whether it's the SEC West, they're out of balance," Franklin said. "I think a lot of times, people say, well from a historical perspective, it all evens out. No it doesn't. It hasn't." (Since the conf was realigned in 2014, Big Ten East Champ is 8-0 in those last 8 Championship Games vs the West Division Winner).

Start MK for Memphis & Tulane then

Rest him for Navy and usf. If the goal is save his redshirt , Gus could start MK for the next two games and if we win both those sit him. Win the next two and start him for conference championship. That's 4 games played and redshirt saved .

I actually think MK reads defenses better than JRP and he throws a better pass. Now I don't get paid to make these decisions so not being critical of either JRP, Gus or MK. We all saw how crisp MK was Saturday and if the young man wants to preserve his redshirt , I think this strategy of starting him the next two weeks and then sitting him is a best of both worlds. I realize you don't build offensive continuity with this strategy ,but again I point to Saturday and Mikey's play making skills stepping in cold .

These are the things you remember when it's a rivalry game. It's a feeling a tiny part of me has missed because I think it's something that makes sports—especially at the collegiate level—feel special. It's a feeling I was reminded of Saturday night as the Bearcats lost in Orlando to the UCF Knights, 25-21.

We've been blessed to play plenty of important games in the nine years since that night, but if I'm being honest, not many have felt important in that way. Games against UCF have, though. That 2019 win didn't just feel special because it was a critical top-25 upset; it felt special because it was UCF. They'd kicked our teeth in at home in 2017 and got the best of us in their 2018 College GameDay showcase. They were the team to beat. When the Bearcats were in the AAC's driver's seat in 2020 and 2021, they had their way with literally every conference opponent they faced. Still, those wins over UCF were the ones fans stopped and savored: Tight ends Whyle and Taylor racking up yards in 2020 and running back Jerome Ford taking the lid off in 2021 with four first-half touchdowns.

Saturday's loss would've hurt, regardless of the opponent. After all, it snapped a winning streak against AAC teams that stretched back to 2019. But it wasn't any opponent. It was UCF. And so it hurt more.

Cincinnati has had uneasy relationships in recent years, sure. They've played Miami for the Victory Bell since 1888. But with the Cincinnati win streak running to 16 games, it's more a rivalry of traditional and geographic importance. The series with South Florida (the longest active streak the Bearcats have against any opponent) has provided a lot to both programs, but the two teams have rarely been good enough at the same time to foster much ill will. And, of course, the two won't play any longer starting next season.

But the Bearcats and Knights have played each other eight years in a row. Each team has won four games. Each team has, at one time, won three straight. Each team has lost once at home. Each team has a 19-game win streak against AAC opponents to their name, and perhaps most remarkably, each team spoiled the other's streak.

But to explain the bad blood using numbers or head-to-head comparisons would be to tell the story wrong. Take a look at Twitter on any given day, and you'll see the kind of petty bickering that only comes when fans care enough to argue about college football in May.

There haven't been a lot of grudge matches or circled dates on the calendar since those days of Pittsburgh and Louisville, but UCF has become one. And so Cincinnati will enter the Big 12 Conference with something it's searched for since the Big East: a rival.

***UCF offers top freshman QB Colin Hurley (interview)***

Though he's just a few games into his high school career, Colin Hurley can already make a case to be the nation's best quarterback in the Class of 2025.

The freshman at Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian now has offers from each of the state's Power Five schools with UCF joining Florida, Florida State and Miami. Ole Miss has offered as well.

Hurley got the call on Thursday from UCF's head man himself, Gus Malzahn, as well as co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach G.J. Kinne.

"Coach Malzahn and Coach Kinne were great," Hurley said. "Lots of energy and excitement. We spoke about football and how they watched my film, spoke with my coaches and how they were impressed with my size, velocity, accuracy and ability to make every throw, especially the difficult ones like drive, post, dig, comeback, back shoulder and throwing on the run. They also said I had a good understanding of the game and showed poise. I was very impressed when they spoke on a personal level about school and family."

Hurley made a few camp visits over the summer, but wasn't able to get down to Orlando. That'll change soon as he's planning to visit in the next few weeks. He likes what he's learning about UCF.

"Coach Malzahn and Kinne run a wide open style offense with read-option, run-pass-option, reverses, motions, shifts, different formations, sets and personnel," Hurley said. "I grew up with Joey Gatewood too so I know a little about the expectations there. As a QB, I constantly study film and try to learn more about the game. I have good coaches and trainers that assist me to get better each day. It's a process that I'm committed to."

Hurley is rolling so far this season with 1,200 yards passing, 16 touchdowns and three interceptions.

"We're 5-1 and have a big game tomorrow against American Heritage from South Florida," Hurley said. "We have a balanced offense and a solid defense. Trinity is a great program and we have eight state championships so the coaching, parents and academics are all a part of our success."

Hurley said it's been a tremendous honor to be receiving so much early attention.

"I'd like to give credit to my teammates, coaches, trainers, teachers and parents," Hurley said. "I can't do this alone."

I 100% value the Dungeon opinion and viewpoint, especially now. I'm not here to debate, just poll. I'll leave debate to the other threads, especially the cooler.

But a lot of us have been chided and derailed the past year as conspiracy theorists and killing people. I, for one, am a very annoying Libertarian, I admit it! But ... can you blame me as of late?

Your vote, anonymous. No questioning from me. Just interested ... seriously. I'm personally hoping this is over 50% now, but I'm not going to question it if it's not. I'll leave the discussions to the other threads.

EDIT: Anyone can change their vote, although the poll closes a couple weeks before the 2022 mid-terms later this year. I'm also very interested in the historical aspect of this poll come 1, 3, 5 and even 7 years down the road.
