Reading all the scrimmage reports, etc. just would be expecting too much for us to win against teams outside of first game and FIU in September.

Everybody including the coaches are out there trying to learn this thing (new everything). It would be unfair to judge team based on Michigan and Maryland games. I'd love an upset there but realistically too much new going on...

We can easily be 0-4 or 1-3. FIU is in the 4th year of the Ron Turner regime and each year they've been improving record wise. I'm not saying theyre conference champ material but to go 0-12 to outclassing a G5 program because we're always 2013 is delusional.

If we can clobber them on the road, that says something about what our program is made out . It proves the divide between us and South Florida and the FIU and FAUs is noticeable. I doubt it. Dont be surprised to lose to FIU on the road.
I really hate losing to FIU. We need to put that school forever in our rearview mirror

Last years loss was heartbreaking. I hate losing to them too. Lets be real. This is another school thats growing in numbers. Theyre in a conference we used to be in. They compete in an area where we compete for recruits too.
The only reason why were unique is because we're in a city - a big market - without a NFL team.

The only teams that matter to us in Florida are the three P-5 teams. Remember that we lost every game to USF when the old Big East was a semi-prestigious conference. This year's USF squad may be almost as good when Jim Leavitt's team was briefly ranked, but they don't matter as long as they are also on the outside looking in. If Taggart continues to do well, that's only his ticket out to a P-5 coaching job. Same with Frost, and nobody would blame him.

I'm with Sublime on this one though. haha
If by 2-2 you mean two wins and two blowout wins then I agree. 14-0!!!!

But in all honesty, scrimmage reports don't mean much. I'm sure last years reports were amazing and look how that ended. I believe these kids will have the light switch turn on once they step onto that field on Sept 3rd.

This is GOL telling us how good the team was last fall camp:

Maryland has a new coach but i think they beat us based on talent alone....unfortunately.

Add to that, we'd be beat up physically the previous week by Michigan. However, sometimes a brave showing against a 100,000 hostile fans can help unite a team, especially upon returning to a big home crowd against a beatable Maryland team.

How they deal with early adversity will tell us a lot. So many intangibles boil down to character and leadership from the veterans (including sophomores). Where home fans can help is by not getting down, being loud, and not leaving early no matter what the score.

Frost just said in press conference that he wants to keep the same QB that starts week 1 as QB all season long. Maybe, I need to change my 2-2 prediction. Sorry, but Holman looks good in practice but doesn't make enough personal plays in games to keep drives going. I wish I was wrong here. I hope Justin proves me wrong but...

There will have to be a 180 then if it's even Holman as the starter. Frost isn't going to tolerate what we saw in 2015 and yes, 2014 as well. The poor touch, inconsistancy, poor decision making, bad picks, and inaccuracy. Oregon QBs under Frost were very different. Very few picks and a high completion percentage.

Glad I'm not the only one who remembers this stuff. The running game is looking amazingly promising if you look at "247 ucf" twitter footage. This is going to be really helpful to whoever wins the starting job. Frost said they gained 520 running yards in one game this year. Personally, I believe we have an outside shot at some big running yardage in our first game. :)

I heard that. 520 is sick. We can only dream of those days someday soon.
Yes, I'm fully expecting some big runs and a big team running numbers vs SC State.

Don't get too hungry. SCSt. had by far the best defense in their conference last year and ended their season with a 5-game win streak.

I'm starting to think Holman stole your girl friend or something. The guy won a conference championship two years ago when we weren't playing walk on at every position.

Re-watch the 2014 season. The defense got us to the record we achieved. Holman consistently got us a TD in 1st quarter and another in 4th quarter. He screwed up many opportunities on drives in between throwing fastballs and overthrows. Also, was hesitant to use his legs to get us first downs. Remember, Blake surprisingly made a lot of first downs running when the play wasn't there. Not Holman. Check the film.

I've watched Holman now for 2 seasons in person and constantly hear excuses being made for him. In 2 years at UCF. I can name one game (ECU) that he was the main reason that we won a game. He CLEARLY wasn't the reason that we won a conference championship 2 years ago. Honestly, Perriman, the rest of the wide receivers and the defense was. I saw this guy throw like 5 picks versus UConn.

Hey, that's a major rivalry game, those are completely unpredictable.
