Everyone was all over Kruz when he supposedly "lost the team" and the administration acted with three games left in the 2003 season. People were so upset because of the bad season to that point: We barely got by FAU and Buffalo and everyone was demanding a 17 year veteran of the program's head.
Is the 2003 season the gold standard by which change is needed? GOL should not get a pass even with the schollie penalties. Recruiting has under-performed since DK left, player development too, and game day play calling atrocious at times. Has GOL "lost the locker room" on top of everything else? Don't know, but this knight squad sure looks uninspired at times and seems to consistently come out flat after the half - a problem that has too often plagued the GOL era since day one.
If 2003 was deemed the right time to bring in new blood, is 2015 too? Substitute a few variables here and there and the parallels between 2003 and 2015 are striking.
