With a tough season underway, I always find it fun to "look forward" to next season. We have a lot of talent back plus new talent joining the team. There are a LOT of unknowns (next year there will be some struggles too) but their are so many possibilities with our line-up.

For example, how do you think this line-up would fair?

PG- Brandon Goodwin 6-0
SG- Matt Williams 6-5
SF- A.J. Davis 6-9 (transfer)
PF- Justin McBride 6-10
C- Tacko Fall 7-5

Yes, there would be some weaknesses like speed. But in a half court setting, they would be very solid! TWO huge bodies that can take up the lane on defense. On offense those two can score with a very high efficiency. Matt Williams can shoot it and Goodwin is a solid distributor and he can cut through the lane for many assists!

The reason why I posted these 5 is because they will possibly be the first 5 off the bench next year. This is potentially our 2nd team!! If I saw those 5 on the floor, I would be entertained and I believe we would see some success.

Here's our potential starters for next year (at least something I wrote down 2 weeks ago):

PG- B.J. Taylor 6-2
SG- Adonys Henriquez 6-6
SF- Tanksley Efianayi 6-6
PF- Shaheed Davis 6-9
C- Staphon Blair 6-9

Yes these players are still young, but I am excited about our future. They have size, speed, shooting, athletic bodies, and a year more of experience.
Anywho, I did this for fun and if you want to make a "Black" and "Gold" team, please share!

And no I didn't forget the 3rd team:
PG- Daiquan Walker 6-2
SG- Chance McSpadden 6-3
SF-
PF- Chad Brown 6-8
C- Dylan Karrell 6-11 (is he really that tall!?)

It doesn't seem like anyone reads the basketball board so I will just add onto my previous post.

I was thinking, and if you had to rate our current roster in order from most talented to least talented. How would you rate them?

1. BJ Taylor
2. Adonys Henriquez
3. Staphon Blair
4. Justin McBride
5. Brandon Goodwin
6. Shaheed Davis
7. Daiquan Walker
8. Kasey Wilson
9. Dylan Karell

I really enjoy Shaheed and I am tempted to move him up. Also, I might be a little hard on Kasey right now, but the truth is that he isn't meeting the expectations of many at the moment. I'm hoping and thinking he will turn it around though.

There is no way that McBride and Tacko are on the court at the same time.

After BJ and Adonys its pretty slim pickings, so its hard to rank them. Especially since they are all so widly inconsistent. I'd move Goodwin up and Blair and McBride down. I think Shaheed does have some talent, but there's a reason he's not getting a lot of playing time.

1. Taylor
2. Henriquez (although he's probably got a better all around game than Taylor, just not quite the scorer that Taylor is).
3. Brandon Goodwin
4. Shaheed Davis
5. Staphon Blair
6. Daiquan Walker
7. Justin McBride (his defense is just too much of a liability and he can't run the floor at all)
8. Kasey Wilson
9. Dylan Karell

I know, I am not saying that Tacko and McBride should start together. I was just showing our 2nd team or next 5 top players. I will admit
tongue.r191677.gif
, I think I would like to see them out on the court, at the same time, atleast once. In their defense Tacko runs the floor well for a 7'6 guy and McBride will be in even better shape in a year. I am hoping he can play 25 mins for us next year.

I have a hard time putting McBride above Staphon Blair (and I didn't because I think Blair is very important to out team and he needs to be on the court), but here are there numbers:

player min ppg rpg apg spg bpg tpg fg% ft%
Blair 22.6 7.5 3.7 0.0 .4 1.5 1.2 .617 .654
McBride 13.0 7.2 3.5 0.1 .3 1.0 1.5 .538 .727

I am not saying he is better than Blair, but the stats are interesting because of how productive McBride is, he changes the game when he is playing.

Here's a comparison "per 40 minutes":

player min ppg rpg apg spg bpg tpg fg% ft%
Blair 40 13.3 6.5 0.0 0.7 2.7 2.1 .617 .654
McBride 40 22.0 10.7 0.3 0.9 3.1 4.6 .538 .727

Well, since the season is over I figured we could come back to this post and reevaluate our team and players. I will also take Kasey out of the ratings and add our recruits/transfer.

---------------------Top players/Tier 1/Projected Starters---------------------------
1. BJ Taylor (I want the ball in his hands)
2. Adonys Henriquez Clutch time of the game, give him the ball!
3. Justin McBride- he showed against ECU that he can play minutes (double-double)
4. Brandon Goodwin- love his passing!
---------------------Potential/Battling for Minutes---------------------------
5. Staphon Blair- I would love to see him at the 4 position
6. AJ Davis (transfer) I don't know enough about him
7. Matt Williams (back from injury) averaged 20 mins as a sophomore on a senior heavy team
8. Tacko Fall- Potential but still learning the game. will be great for 3 minutes spurts of game time
9. Daiquan Walker- "icy-hot" (either hot or cold shooting)
10. Tanksley Efianayi (Juco) I don't know enough about hime
---------------------Going to have to work hard and prove it to win minutes--------------------------
11. Shaheed Davis
12. Chance McSpadden
13.Chad Brown
14. Dylan Karell
