Dr. Phillips SG Riley Kugel committed to Mississippi State in September but has reopened his recruitment in the wake of a coaching change in #StarkVegas.
I spoke with Kugel last night and he told me that Washington State, Florida, Arizona State, UCF, Georgia, LSU and Creighton have been in touch. His DP teammate Denzel Aberdeen signed with UF and will surely be in Kugel's ears about coming to Gainesville. Also, UF hired Korey McCray from Miss. State and he was Kugel's lead recruiter. However, some sources I spoke with believe that getting Kugel admitted to UF might prove challenging.
I first saw Kugel in the 2019-20 season when he was playing for Coach Andrew Gustafson at Central Florida Christian Academy.
Kugel can play with or w/o the ball. He has great size for the SG position, is an above average athlete, who can score at all three levels. Kugel has good range on his jumper, has playmaking ability and became more consistent while at DP. He's an improving defender and his motor improved over the past 12 months or so.
