2024 Election Thread

Watching last night's DNC, I couldn't help but feel a sea change washing over our political landscape. Hope, pride, and excitement for our future is replacing gloom, doom, and vitriol.

Kamala's campaign has completely reversed the script. And Trump knows it. His tired, old arguments are falling on deaf ears. If you've listened to his stump speeches the last two days, you see a guy with zero energy; he's simply going through the motions.

The contrast in the messages and the outlook for America couldn't be more stark. One of the messages from last night: We can disagree without being disagreeable.

When you step away from all the gloom and doom angst from the MAGA crowd, it's actually pretty remarkable that our nation has been able to survive as the country has grown to become an increasingly multiracial democracy.

looks like RFK might drop out Friday and endorse Trump. He was shopping his endorsement to the Harris campaign a few weeks ago in exchange for a guarantee of a cabinet position. He just qualified to appear on the Arizona ballot but his campaign is running out of money.

Over 90% of Trump's closest advisors from his 1st term, people who directly benefitted from his rise to power, refuse to endorse him now.

How fūcking stupid do you have to be in order to still be a Republican in 2024?

This isn't even about policy or political leanings at this point, it's about literal inbreds vs normal people. We are talking about actual kool-aid drinking basement floor IQ inbred level cultists against normal Americans.

I thought "Coach" Tim Walz' speech last night could have come from an old GOP convention. But the best line of the night came from Republican, Geoff Duncan, the former Lt. Governor of Georgia. He addressed his fellow Republicans watching on TV.

He said, "A vote for Kamala Harris doesn't make you a Democrat, it makes you a patriot."

I'm loving it too. As a former Republican, it's hard not to watch the convention on TV this week and wonder if the two parties got their convention dates reversed.

I swear, there have been a hell of a lot more jubilant "USA" chants throughout the Dem's convention than at the Republican convention. Seriously, DEMS chanting USA, USA, USA??!? My God, if you didn't know better, you'd think those Democrats are sounding more patriotic than their 'Real American' counterparts! WTF is up with THAT??!?

And to top it off, the traditional 'Fighting for Freedom" theme that I've always heard emphasized at the GOP conventions has gotten coopted by the Dems this time around. What's more, I'm sure seeing a lot of Republican speakers given time on the convention stage. What's up with that?

This whole week I feel like I've stepped into an episode of The Twilight Zone. :)

There is a reason the Fed is considering cutting rates in Sept despite the fact Inflation is still above their target rate. The news Biden gang overstated new jobs by 1.25 million over 2 years tells us things not so gangbuster as they were pushing.

All they have talked about is spending more money we don't have on more BS. 25k to first time homeowners will make housing more expensive not cheaper, while putting us in more debt. Price controls have failed every time they have been done. You can't get much further left than this convention.

LOL! The idea that the Fed is bending to pressure is ludicrous. The Fed hasn't had a rate cut in four years and there's been growing frustration they haven't lowered it earlier this summer. But the Fed has been holding tight on the rates to insure we're out of danger of a recession.

This from the poster who didn't say diddily-squat when Trump added two trillion dollars to the federal deficit. Ignore it as always, but Republican Presidents have consistently raised the deficit this century more than their Democrat colleagues. But people like you only wring their hands about the deficit when a Democrat is in the WH.
