Stuck in traffic

Very interesting read of a writer who was brave (stupid?) enough to witness the eye - and the total destruction of a Comfort Inn in Florida City.

idiot was lucky to survive. hate people like that. put himself in danger and if he was in trouble, would have endangered even more people who would have gone to save his stupid azz.

Wow! Memories.

I was actually on my normal route that week and had prior reservations at one of the Holiday Inn's in Alexandria, LA..

Much of New Orleans and Southern LA tried to evacuate but many ran out of gas in traffic jams...and some had to go all the way up to Shreveport to find hotel availability.

Just remember watching CNN that night and all next morning when the devastation from Homestead came in...and I was thinking nothing of my place would be left in New Orleans...as I was on the top floor of a 3 story building, which was located about 100 years away from the levee.

I did take photos with me of my property as just like any smart renter, I had renters insurance so I wanted to make sure I was able to reimburse the lost of my 4 head hifi VCR.

After it missed New Orleans but hit the bayous to the west of the city...I was one of the first to drive back over on I-10 and made it back home.

Ironic thing was most in New Orleans never lost power...but those that ended up in Baton Rouge, much of that city lost power.
