Rivers said people have been "giddy" about being able to drink alcohol at their seats. There was lots of excitement, too, when the Orlando Business Journal broke the news that 4 Rivers would be the exclusive vendor in the new area. That excitement has dwindled, though, as the Knights have fallen to an 0-6 season.
"The numbers have decreased," said Rivers about his food sales in the stadium.
Rivers is hopeful, though, that sales will pick up when the football team does. UCF Athletics also is hopeful that one day the Carl Black & Gold Cabana can generate enough donations from ticket sales to spur other construction projects.
Meanwhile, UCF football head coach George O'Leary announced this week he was stepping down from the interim director of athletics role, which he picked up in June after Todd Stansbury left. A nationwide search is now underway for the next director of athletics.
