The Saudis put crowd control software and mechanisms in place in Mecca but unbelievably but Mina. Which is clearly en route to Mecca and 3M people pass through there during the Hajj.
PS- they were trampled by people en route to "Stoning the Devil". People literally throw rocks at 3 pillars that has something to do with Mohammed or something. And these people believe that if they're killed during Hajj, specifically during this ritual, it's all good- instant access to heaven. So really, NBD.
I could believe that answer if it were like 10 to 20 people. We are talking 700+ people here. These stampedes don't start the way you think they do. Crowds should be limited. It's the sheer size of the crowd that causes movement to start as small ripple, which grows, which leads to panicking that causes it to get worse. It's not like there's some assholes from a rock concert trying to start a mosh pit.
The pilgrims probably tripped over their buckle shoes.
Can Bruce Jenner go to this thing next year?Apparently, people die at this thing every year. 300 people died there just a few years ago.
