He left UCF's new OC off the list.....
Chip Lindsey (Southern Miss):
The Golden Eagles are one of the most improved teams in the country. In his first season calling the plays, Lindsey’s offense is scoring 34.7 points per game, which is an improvement of 15.7 per game from a year ago. USM is in the top 40 nationally in yards per carry and completion percentage. An impressive improvement across the board.
Frank Verducci (UConn):
The Huskies have already surpassed last year’s win total, sitting at 3-4 after going 2-10 last season. UConn is scoring 19.9 points per game, which is actually a four-point improvement from a year ago.
Kendal Briles (Baylor):
Is this the best Baylor offense ever? It’s something a number of opposing coaches are asking. The Bears are averaging 63.8 points per game through six games, and wide receiver Corey Coleman already has 16 touchdown catches. Quarterback Seth Russell’s mobility gives this offense another tool, and would you believe Baylor leads the nation in rushing at 7.1 yards per carry and is No. 2 with nearly 350 rushing yards per game?
Dave Nichol (East Carolina):
The Pirates are scoring 32.1 points per game, which is near last year’s level, and Nichol’s offense put up 35 in a win over Virginia Tech. ECU is also No. 13 on third down (47.2 percent) and No. 23 in red zone touchdown percentage (68.9 percent).
Tony Elliott (Clemson):
Clemson has positioned itself for a possible College Football Playoff berth, sitting at 6-0. Quarterback Deshaun Watson is completing 68.2 percent of his passes. Last week, the Tigers put up 34 points on a Boston College defense that had only allowed 36 points in its first six games.
