This year has reminded me a lot of 2005. In '05 we won the east division and played in a bowl and finished at 8-5. I can only hope for a similar overall and conference record this year.

Here are some similarities:
- two "go-to" receivers in Brandon Marshall and Mike Walker (Adkins and Tre'Quan)
- An exciting and talented FRESHMAN running back, Kevin Smith (Taj McGowan)
- One of the youngest teams in the nation with 13 seniors (9 seniors this year- I think)
- A junior QB, Moffitt, leading the way (Holman a junior)
- Both years our opening game was on a Thursday (lost to USC east in '05).
- Started the season 0-2 both years, losing an in-state game.

The biggest difference is that Holman just got hurt. If he is out for a while I expect to see our passing game to struggle and our opponents to put more defenders in the box making it tougher to run. It could be a really tough year with that loss. Tyler Harris looked good for a freshman playing in his 1st game. His future looks bright.

No.
- AAC, even though is a dumpster fire, is worlds better than the MAC.
- We played a decent USC team close. We got spanked by a horrendous Stanford team.
- USF != FIU, especially not in 2005.
- In 2005 we didn't know just how bad GOL coaching was. We all gave 2004 a pass (first year as coach), even though we realized after he couldn't win a freaking game with 5 NFL players on our team.
- GOL still had something to prove in 2005. Now we just throw $$ at him when he farts in Dr. Hitt's direction. He has zero incentive to improve as he gets paid until he decides to stop coaching or dies.

In 2005 we were in CUSA not the MAC.
That said it will be just as bad as our last year in the MAC. Some similarities - blowout loss to Wisconsin (Stanford) and a one point loss. If Furman beats us we're toast.
