As disappointed as I am about the first three games, I understand why it's happened. No one wants to hear it, but what is happening now is due to the NCAA sanctions. You can't go four straight recruiting periods of taking 5 to 7 less scholarship players than the max, and not think it will catch up at some point. You couple that with injuries to our starting quarterback, starting center, starting running back, starting defensive tackle, and number one receiver plus a starting cornerback and number one receiver leaving early for the draft, and you have where we are. That's why at one point in the game on Saturday we had freshmen at QB, RB, WR, OL, LB, CB, and SS.

Should we have been able to beat FIU and Furman with what we had available? Yes. Did GOL make some mistakes in play calling? Yes. But GOL didn't all of a sudden forget how to coach. We've had a perfect storm of events that have led to where we are. When you get sanctions imposed, you don't feel it the first or second year. You feel it the third and fourth years. We aren't very deep, and that's why.

And for all the people that are part of the David Kelly fan club, he's why we have this problem.
