AAC hasn’t had divisions since UConn left. So you are either the conference favorite or not. No such thing as a favorite in the West.
I must have been under a rock the past 10 days because I didn’t hear of this. Houston is predicted to be the favorite in the West, this is a massive blow to them, this kid was a stud as a Freshman😳.
I feel like we should be the favorite this year. We have pieces, just need a competent qb.AAC hasn’t had divisions since UConn left. So you are either the conference favorite or not. No such thing as a favorite in the West.
Houston will likely be the favorite. Cincy will command respect too because they kept Luke. ECU is a dark horse. I don’t know if UCF will get a lot of preseason love, the QB battle will fog the vision. No one is going to pick us as the favorite without knowing who the QB is going to be.

Seems like in the past, except for Frost years, when UCF was the favorite, we hit bottom, when we were middle of the road--- conference champions, so I'm hoping we're forgotten.I feel like we should be the favorite this year. We have pieces, just need a competent qb.

Yep, median is around 3 out of 4, roughly just shy of 40 yards, in college, last time I checked.I did some hunting after reading this article to determine what sort of real expectations we should have for a college level kicker.
Summarizing Article Referenced below:
I found that from 0-30 yards, the % of making field goals is over 90% (pretty much a given they will make at this distance)
After 30 yards the % made starts dropping:
30-34 yards - 83%
35-39 yards - 71%
40-44 yards - 62%
45-49 yards - 59%

I then calculated every kicker's FG % from last season to get an average (reference article below):
Average % made is 76%.
We have an awful kicker currently, no other way to say it. It's so off the median, so far away from it, it doesn't even need those numbers. Our kicker was 57% overall for the season, which ranked 110 out of 114 kickers.

He was solid within 40 and awful beyond 40.Yep, median is around 3 out of 4, roughly just shy of 40 yards, in college, last time I checked.

But I always love numbers to back the instinct, so thank you.
Yep, that's why he's still our kicker. But Gus is going to bypass him at times still too.He was solid within 40 and awful beyond 40.
The Gasparilla Bowl was his best game…If he can repeat that in 2022, we are fine. I’m guessing we see a healthy amount of the FR kicker, though.
If not,
That’s a really nice get for them👏🏽
Could be a nice pickup for SMU. They lost their leading rusher to Ole Miss.
