Believe this will be the first time during UCF's CUSA and obviously AAC membership that the Conf Hoop Media Days will be coming to Orlando.

UCF and the Amway Center will be hosting the AAC Men's Basketball Championships in March 2016 and March 2017.

This is really big for Orlando and UCF.
With the basketball tournament and now the media days being held here, I think it partly signals UCF’s overall stature in the conference. It’s obviously not due to the basketball team’s success, but the overall body of work for UCF Athletics. It’s a bit of a risk for the American to hold its tournament here, as opposed to Memphis or Connecticut where it guarantees at least the turnout of a huge local fanbase. It would be awesome to see the Amway Center filled with black and gold for this year’s tournament, but there’s certainly no guarantee it will happen with the team at the bottom of the conference the first two seasons. Donnie has a golden opportunity to build this basketball program right now – top level competition, TV exposure, new attention-grabbing court surface, huge alumni base, and now the AAC Tournament and basketball media days in his back yard. This year might be his last chance to prove he can do something with all of it.

Here's the attendance from last year's AAC Basketball Tourn in downtown Hartford at the XL Center: Host Team UCONN was a #6 seed in the tourn

Thursday Day 1: 3 Game Session: Total announced attendance: 5,431 with UCONN playing at "home" in Prime Time

Friday Day 2: Quarterfinals:
First 2 game session during the day: Total Announced attendance 7,056 2 games (SMU vs ECU, Memphis vs Temple)

2nd session at night: Total Announced attendance: 9,514 (Houston vs Tulsa, UCONN vs Cinci)

Saturday: Semifinals:
Announced Attendance: 10,114
SMU vs Temple and UCONN vs Tulsa

Sunday, Championship Game
Announced Attendance: 13,365
SMU 62, UCONN 54

AAC was fortunate that the local #6 seed made a tournament run to the Championship Game.

I think the turnout will be good because of cheap, easy flights, warm weather (still will be cold up north) and the attractions.

AAC needs the most popular teams to have good years (i.e. UCONN, Memphis, Cinci, maybe Temple) to get their fans to travel to Orlando.
