Perhaps we are going about this all wrong. The AAC should be courting Texas and Oklahoma. Promise to kick out the bottom feeders Tulane and UCONN and bring them in.
I already suggested that, C-Mont. They have all the program money (including from billionaire oil tycoons), rep, recruiting advantage, and highest-priced coaches. They rigged the system in their favor in every possible way, yet can't take care of business. "Arrogance and entitlement that almost puts Hillary to shame."
That would be awesome, if we had a commissioner worth a damn.Perhaps we are going about this all wrong. The AAC should be courting Texas and Oklahoma. Promise to kick out the bottom feeders Tulane and UCONN and bring them in.
It would be great, but there's no way (particularly Oklahoma) turn their back on the guaranteed CFP money.Perhaps we are going about this all wrong. The AAC should be courting Texas and Oklahoma. Promise to kick out the bottom feeders Tulane and UCONN and bring them in.
The Big12 created a red herring in expansion this off season to stop people from talking about Baylor. They don't want any part of weeks of conversation revolving around them.Baylor doesn't have a chance?
It's very likely now that the Big 12 gets shut out again from the playoffs despite wrangling the conference championship game they demanded. That improve the AAC's chances to get a team in, even a team with one loss.
If Houston beats Louisville convincingly, they could still afford to lose to USF (or us), as long as the other top teams beat each other as they very well could.Seriously, the only way Houston gets in is if they go undefeated AND the Big12 announces they're adding them. I don't think they get past UL anyway.
You really think a committee of P5 ADs is going to set the precedence that a G5 school can get into "their" playoffs with a loss?If Houston beats Louisville convincingly, they could still afford to lose to USF (or us), as long as the other top teams beat each other as they very well could.
If only to continue the lie that things are equal, they need to let an outsider in once in awhile. Otherwise, the U.S. Senate get to calling conferences to testify. You really think a committee of P5 ADs is going to set the precedence that a G5 school can get into "their" playoffs with a loss?
No AAC champ is getting in, even if undefeated. No way at all. The playoff is an even more exclusive club than the BCS was.No AAC champ is getting in with a loss. No way at all.

Just like with the BCS, the AP poll has little to do with who gets in. It's a separate panel and Houston could be #1 in the AP poll, but if the playoff committee thinks that 4 teams from power conferences, even with 2 losses each, will be a better draw, then they're getting in and Houston will have to channel their inner Boise State.I'd only disagree this year where Houston is already in the Top 6 and has a chance to beat a Top 5 team left on the schedule. Unless there are 4 undefeated P5 teams, there is a chance Houston could get in.
Except that they are going to lose to UCF.

Let's call the 4 team playoff what it is: nepotism.
Because there were no clear disparities in records. Enter Houston this year. That's a popular narrative, but the committee poll and the Coaches/AP polls were pretty close and consistent the last 2 years, especially at the top.
That's an apples and oranges comparison. The BCS had a national championship game and then some steak knife parting gift bowls for the also rans. The Players chooses 4 teams instead of 2, so all 4 have a chance at the big prize! No AAC champ is getting in, even if undefeated. No way at all. It's a different equation but it's the same variables. Fact is, Houston, as well as any other school outside the P5 doesn't belong in the club. It won't happen. That's an apples and oranges comparison. The BCS had a national championship game and then some steak knife parting gift bowls for the also rans. If Houston wins all of their games including beating an undefeated Louisville (would be a top 3 team)they are in, especially over B12 and probably PACFor those of you that think a G5 will get a playoff spot, I'd like to ask you one question: Is pixie dust in season? I don't make it to fairytale wonderland often and I can't remember if it's a fall or winter magically commodity. Thanks in advance.
It won't happen. Not that I don't want it to happen, believe me I do, but it just won't. College football is not designed that way.If Houston wins all of their games including beating an undefeated Louisville (would be a top 3 team)they are in, especially over B12 and probably PAC
You may be on to something. Rename the AAC the Power 5 conference. They we'll be the 6th of the 5 Power 5 conferences. Sorta like our amps going up to 11, not 10. Of course we have 11 or 12 schools, but the Big 10 and Big 12 don't abide by their counts either. It's a different equation but it's the same variables. Fact is, Houston, as well as any other school outside the P5 doesn't belong in the club. It won't happen.
Which is good. Injustice is meant to bring upon change. Or we could all just join the B12 and not give a shit anymore about the G5.![]()
