Pretty graphic stuff, so don't scroll if you have a queasy stomach

@UCFBS

Still want to take the libertarian tact on abortion?
I've not only been extremely critical of Pro-Choice advocates who claim they still have the right to terminate life when it's outside a woman's body, but have continued to hammer home that equating partial birth abortions to a woman's right to choose will only undo the Roe v. Wade ruling. Usually these women are repeat offenders too.

That's why I was livid when the crackpot Democrats in Virginia were making this case, and I said it would lead to a massive backlash in Republican states. I was correct too. I'm so sick of extremists controlling the narrative, because this has never been what Roe v. Wade was about.

It's just like when people try to claim self-defense when there was no such justification whatsoever. Usually these people are already convicted felons too, just like the people who assaulted Kyle Rittenhouse, ironically enough.

You'll probably enjoy this one as much as I did, lol.

Where the left loses me is when they do not let doctors opt-out of abortions or any other conscious objection. I strongly feel women must have the right, as I trust women more than the state. But I have a serious issue when women use the state to force doctors do to what they don't want to do. There are plenty of other doctors who will perform.

Not exactly surprising that the left is pushing the boundary on this issue. They are trying to move the window, but stuff like this goes beyond political posturing and into the realm of " let's see what we can kill".

This isnt true.
The part of the bill that is generating the most concern is Section 7(a) which reads: “Notwithstanding any other law, a person shall not be subject to civil or criminal liability or penalty, or otherwise deprived of their rights, based on their actions or omissions with respect to their pregnancy or actual, potential, or alleged pregnancy outcome, including miscarriage, stillbirth, or abortion, or perinatal death.”

Ther perinatal death part is what people are harping on, but all that means is if a child is born alive, but dies shortly after birth the mother wont be charged with a crime.

Little off topic, but Maher's editorial right there is why I think the modern day Republican party should be concerning to people. They have very few actual policies and the whole schtick does sound like a facebook comments section, and I dont see how that leads to good things.

Not concerning at all. Just have to realize how far people have been pushed and only the extreme even want to enter the political arena now. At the same time, the issues we deal with at this point are pretty extreme so maybe this is what we need.

Been pushed? They havent been pushed, much of the stuff some on the far right believe is baseless conspiracies. The Republican party used to be the party of low taxes, low regulations, etc. Now it has turned into a party that solely focuses on culture wars and they have made teachers, librarians, etc the enemy. THat isnt the Democrat's fault. The Democrats didnt convince people like MGT they are pedophiles, she came up with that herself. The problem is that when a party has no real policies issues, then it becomes a cult of personality, which is 100% what the GOP is right now. When Liz Cheney essentially gets kicked out because she didnt approve of 1/6, you can't turn around and act like people were "pushed". Or just look at this thread. You posted the false claim that abortion in CA will be illegal up to 7 days after birth, which is completely false. It isnt Democrats fault that you guys circulate these falsehoods, and then turn around and act like Democrats are evil. That isnt being "pushed", that is choosing to believe in baseless rumors.

Don't you think its a reactionary response?

Don't you think its a reactionary response?

No. I think it is because the Republican party policies arent popular so they have to demonize the other side with a bunch of made up stuff to stay in power. Just look at the infrastructure bill. How many Republicans went on TV, tweeted, did local interviews, etc, talking about how much money their state/district will get from this bill, while at the same time just completely ignoring that they voted against it? THey were literally trying to take credit for what the Democrats did and what they didnt support. People like Democratic policies, I am sorry, they do. People want access to affordable healthcare, they want better infrastructure, "keep your government hands off my medicare", etc etc. Where as Republicans want tax cuts for the wealthy, a border wall, and as many guns on the streets as possible. SO obviously, the only way they can keep getting voters with unpopular policies, is to make the other side out to be monsters.

Ummm ... nothing rallied the Republicans together, even with some Libertarians, than a few years ago when Virginia was acting like Roe v. Wade protected this non-sense. It not only has nothing to do with Roe v. Wade, but it will undermine it. It's Progressivism gone off-the-rails.

This is infanticide, period. They don't like something about the baby, so kill it. WTF does that have anything to do with a woman's body?!?!?! What does that have anything do with women's health? Oh, that's right, we need to harvet stem cells, it's big business, so ... why not allow it?!

This is what is sickening me, and not a conspiracy theory. We have a demand for stem cells greater than supply. I fear the day the state not only goes beyond encouraging, but mandates an increase in supply. It's not a conspiracy theory. And it's the one thing I do agree with conservatives on.

We Libertarians would really like to see Liberals come back, they made far more sense, whether we agreed or disagreed. Progressives just literally want to expand some civil rights into coocooland, but also make many others illegal. Like the 1st Amendment. This ... this is special interest getting out-of-control.

It's murder once that baby is outside the woman's body. Roe v. Wade has nothing to do with this.

THe law doesnt say you can murder a baby. It says that a death after it is born, due to maybe being born premature or something a long those lines, doesnt warrant civil or criminal charges. This seems pretty common sense, but the way some of these new laws are written you can very well believe that there are going to be people who have a miscarriage, or the child is born non viable, who will end up being investigated and in states like Texas, probably even sued. That is why this was put into the law. You guys are running with this propaganda without even taking 2 seconds to see if its true or not.

The Maryland law originally stated “perinatal death related to a failure to act.” The obvious holes there are glaring. They then amended it to “perinatal death related to an act or omission during the pregnancy.” This wording provides quite a bit more clarity and should be less controversial.

This country would be in a far better state if legislators would take more care and time with their proposed laws and not rush to act during the brief window of our fleeting public attention span.

Again, if you re-read my very first statement ...

The are valid cases of post-birth termination. The problem is the 'blanket right' sh-- that the Virginia governor and others started pushing, and California now wants too. It literally got everyone, even lawyers, riled up. Why?

It has nothing to do with a woman's right to choose.

We're not talking cases where doctors are determining the chance at survival is very low. We're talking cases where they want to give the parents the right not to bother, over the doctor's recommendation and/or where existing laws already deal with this.

Again, this is the same crap the Virginia governor and others got involved with. I'm very much against it because it's going to undo Roe v. Wade. It has nothing to do with Roe v. Wade, and I'm tired -- legally -- of people using it that way, and calling it 'abortion' too.

I understand it's very difficult for new parents to get a child with serious defects. I want to be sympathetic. But at that point, it's a little late to be talking about terminating the life. Especially when there is plenty of medical research hurting for young stem and other cells.

It's the one thing where I actually agree with Republicans, there is a bit of a 'conflict-of-interest' at times too.
