This is a complete and total over reaction to ONE loss. If we don't improve and win at least 7 games this year, then it will be a bad year. There are several reasons why we can still finish with a winning record and even win a bowl game this year.

if you want to be considered for an upgrade to a power 5 conference you shouldnt be losing games like FIU...i know people will say its all about the market but still...

No it's not. This wasn't an opening road loss in Ireland or to a middle of the pack BIG10 team.

This was a loss to sunbelt/cusa FIU AT HOME.

Don't tell me that BS, I think we have almost a 50/50 shot at winning this:

It definitely does feel like a season ending loss, and i think the effect is magnified by being our first game.
But Good teams lose to bad teams all the time. Although not on the same level, national champion OSU lost to VT 1st game of the season last year.
Coaching may have lost us the game but we should not have been in that position to begin with. Players need to improve and I think they will. We may have a down season but I see no need to fire coaches or count us out for Big 12 based on one game.

You mean consistently top 1/3 of the ACC VT? I fail to see how OSU losing to VT can even compare to us losing to FIU. Maybe if you said eventual national champion OSU lost to UCF...but they didn't now, did they?

Maybe not the best example but VT did finish 6th in their division last year. Either way my point still stands. One bad loss at the beginning of the season doesn't doom us, especially since we are inexperienced.
Btw: OSU was favored by 11 last year over VT, some sites had us favored by only 13 last night.

But P5 teams lose to P5 teams. It's how football works. If we want to be P5 we simply cannot lose to G5 schools.

Good P5 schools lose to bad P5 schools
Bad P5 schools lose to good G5 schools
Good G5 schools lose to bad G5 schools

Hate to break it to you but we aren't going to be a good P5 school once we get in. It's taking to time to get into the P5 and then it will take more time to be good in the P5.

With all that being said we still shouldn't have lost and it sucks no matter how you put it.

If it is all about the market, and our team sucks, why wouldn't the Big12 take USF instead.

The OL is scary bad though. It is hard for me to believe we will have a good season getting man handled by a Sunbelt/C-USA program. The score was actually better than some of the stats. If it was a few WR's dropping passes, that might get fixed. You can't get the OL much better during the season.

How boutique Appalachian St. beating Michigan and Georgia Southern beating Florida?

If there is nothing to look forward to, then why are you still posting here? What's the point of you posting here if you've completely given up after one loss? When UCF went 0-11 in 2004, I still attended every home game and even went to the road game at Ball State. I've seen much worse than that one-point loss to FIU. Criticism of the team is one thing, but some of you guys need to man up and stop turning into whiners every time a rare WTF loss happens. FIU fans are probably getting a good chuckle at the way some of us are melting down over here. It's ridiculous.

Yup. The whole point of the upcoming seasons is to build a resume for the Big 12. Winning the AAC and some meaningless bowl game isn't worth anything to this program anymore. Those were old expectations and goals.
