Gene Frenette: A big step backward for Bortles
There seemed to be more a tone of despair in Blake Bortles’ voice after this indignant loss. It was the third consecutive week his Jaguars were an epic second-half failure, though he didn’t want to admit it cut more deeply than road collapses against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts.
“No, they all suck equally,” said Bortles.
And on that note, the biggest hope of the Jaguars’ franchise walked out of his press conference. Bortles was in a hurry to get away, no doubt to contemplate how the anticipated growth of a second-year quarterback could take such a giant leap backward at the worst possible time.
