Al Golden on the chopping block.....why not GOL?

They get $20 million for their tv contract alone. I can't imagine O'Leary survives after this season though. Injuries, scholarship reductions, etc still don't account for 9 straight.

UM has vocal donors that care and can enact change. UCF has corporate ticket give-away donors that don't give a shit.

Basically: 'We ain't there yet.'
They don't have as many donors as you would expect for a Program w 5 Titles. Their former players like Sapp don't give crap back to them. Their stadium situation makes the job not as good as it was 15+ years ago

GOL isn't on the chopping block because he has the right to at least one more season to turn it around.

GOL has earned another season to steady the ship. UCF owes GOL for all that he has done. If he was a coach in his 40's he would have bolted after his first successful season. You guys will get a taste of what it's like to have a revolving door of coaches soon enough. Until then enjoy the stability.

And GOL was rewarded with large sums of money! Right the ship next year....yeah right.....it will take GOL 3-4 years if it happens at all. He did alot, he got recognized and paid well.....let's move on. We owe it to the team and the fans.

What a loser mentality. LOL stability. Hooray for 9 win regular season wins, a conf champ here and there and no wins v the power 5!!!

In addition to Howie taking you to a NY bowl game, before joining the Big East your record as a non-BCS was 12-11 versus the BCS since its creation in 1998 before joining the Big East...and no one looked as good in defeat as Louisville did against Miami in 2004. If thats not a slam dunk i dont know what is and you went through a revolving door of different coaches too. Compare that to GOL - 7-23 versus the P5. If you take the one year away that we beat you and three other teams in 2013 as a member of the club, our record falls to 3-23. Your team might suck right now but it doesnt discount how your coaches made the program money by winning games...especially the ones that count. GOL has not made the program any money. He at best only made UCF an emergency candidate...and the Big East only invited us after ESPN no longer wanted to offer them a billion dollars after losing three schools to different conferences. You see where i'm getting at?

We need former players to call GOL out. Miami's former players have no loyalty to Al Golden, ours have loyalty to GOL.

Those players don't call him out because they went through his system, and won and played for conference titles (and some more). In 2005, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2013, and 2014 we played for or won hardware. That means every kid who got there under his tenure (other than 2015) and played for at least 4 years have all gotten to experience the effort and elation of winning a conference title. They've moved on in life and have jobs and families. I'm sure they don't like what is going down but they've been through ups and downs and I'm sure most have learned alot about life from it. It shows how they respect the guy, like too many on here portray our players not doing. Sure, you can find somebody that didn't see eye-to-eye with him or their personalities clashed, but you could also find plenty on the other side of that spectrum. Being a coach has a lot of overlap with being a parent. You can't always be a friend...a lot of times you have to be a parent. That's just the way it is. Consistently winning 8-9 games a year and never playing for or winning hardware is not why guys play the game. I was on a lot of competitive soccer teams like that growing up and in retrospect I'd gladly trade some of those in for some piss-poor seasons, if I actually got to win some hardware in others.

This isn't a post advocating "for" or "against" the guy, just my opinion if I had played under him and was reflecting on my college career years later. The administration is the one that has to make a business decision on his employment status after the season is over.

Just chill out and let things play out. I would bet the farm that unless UCF wins 3 or 4 to finish out the season GOL will step down and allow a new AD to pick a new coach.
