Ran across this today. Didn’t even remember it (because it is so ridiculous). I’m sure I just laughed it off because who cares anyways. Some other school can do whatever they want to do.

We win our 2013 Fiesta Bowl and have a parade at Disney….nobody notices. Nobody cares. We win the Peach Bowl in 2017, claim a Natty and have the same parade….and all of a sudden people act like we did something different. We didn’t. We celebrated the success on the field.

Us claiming a Natty is no different than dozens of other schools claiming titles. Why? Because those are the rules and if the NCAA wants to change them, they are free to do so anytime they want to. Until then, people can deny whatever they want but it can never be taken away.

Just saying the haters are always hating on us because they don’t like the fact we are the new kid on the block but they have all done the same kind of things they say we do and nobody threw a hissy-fit when they did it. At least we didn’t make up some self-proclaimed, one-off trophy/ring/award that none of the other parties signed up to. In the end, if we keep winning it won’t matter what anybody thinks. It will just be self-evident that we belong (and get the respect that goes along with it).

All FBS National Championships are Mythical. All UCFans should understand the Primary Selector part of FBS NC claims and how many BS ones Bama claim, Michigan claim and Oklahoma State claim. UCF's claim is way better than most. And ours is one that exposes a broken system.

All legit NCAA National Championships have a legit Playoff with all conference champions included. The legit NCs get the same trophy. Just the centerpiece is different. This is for D1 FCS

I especially find it stupid with Bama t-shirt bandwagoners get so hung up on the Dr Pepper trophy. No where on it does it say FBS or NCAA

I just wish the folks broadcasting the games would become better educated on the subject, but for some reason most just make fun of the claim. It's not like UCF was the first to make this claim. If the broadcaster don't like it they should blame the system NOT the UCF fans. Stepping down from the milk crate now. Your mileage may vary.

YEP. I went to the Gasparilla Bowl in person and after we opened Christmas presents ,my son and I watched on the Plus the Gane . The announcers dissed on our national title claim and made it sound like every guy on the UCF roster applied for the UF football and was rejected like a job applicant at Burger King .

UCF did expose it and since ESPN runs it ,they feel the need to diss it when they can.

The NC was by the book. 100% valid. As for the parade, I think it's a cool, unique thing we do at UCF.
As someone who was a Cast Member at the Magic Kingdom back in the HS and UCF days...those 2 parades were sooooooooooo magical and I'm glad I was able to see them in person.

PS. Only wish DW didn't chicken out and have a National Champion Banner at the front of the parade...as he chose "HomeTown Team" instead. Weak Sauce.

In the 2014 parade...UCF had Fiesta Bowl Champions Banner at the front of the parade which was SWEET!!

Back in the 80s and 90s....and into the 2000s...if you were State Champs of Florida...you were probably playing in the National Championship Game (or at least finish in the Top 5 at the end of the year).

Many of those FSU/Miami games were soooo loaded with NFL talent/speed...it was something to see.

It did suck when UF ended their annual rivalry vs Miami so they could host Northwest Idaho Southern Univ every year instead.

The big difference was....UCF wasn't a Country Club Member (i.e. P5), as it was always ok for P5 ("Blue Blood") schools to do it....but when UCF beat Auburn (who beat #1 Alabama and #1 Georgia that year...the same 2 teams that played for the Invitational Title) and finished the season 13-0...the Country Club folks (including the P5 Media) were upset about UCF's claim...which was soon backed up by the Colley Matrix National Title proclamation which proved DW was right.

The country club doesnt want us in the party. We know miami, fsu, and uf have lobbied to not play us in a bowl. We know Uf was trying to duck us this year too bc they knew us beating them was a real possibility. The narrative is crumbling

As the broadcaster's used to say back then, "If you want to know the state of college football, you gotta go to the state of FL."

Also in the 80's and 90's, it was pretty common to hear broadcaster's and prognosticators refer to college football championship as the "Mythical National Champion" because there was no actual playoff, and often there was controversy on who should lay claim to it.

There is no "playoff" now, it's an invitational....like one of these basketball tournaments in Nov-Dec.

It's obvious looking at 2017....we had to win our conference just to be snubbed. OTOH, Alabama did not win their conference, and did not even qualify for the conference championship game and got the bid.

Also, in 2016, Ohio State made the CFI but did not play for the Big 10 Championship. Same garbage.
