Another New Coach Added

I have been very impressed with Coach Frost and what he is saying about the program…speed, speed and speed on the offense. My concern is that I haven't heard a Single word about Defense. Our defense across the field was beyond pitiful this season. No size, speed, strength or skill…Im noticing the offers he's made the past few days, but NO defensive players have been mentioned. Thoughts??

Frost is essentially the OC so there's no hold up for going after offensive players. I assume he's going to hire a DC before we start offering defensive players.

Central Florida: Missouri State (FCS) offensive coordinator Mario Verduzco is heading to Central Florida to join Scott Frost’s staff, sources tell FootballScoop. We understand he will coach the quarterbacks. Verduzco and Frost were on the same staff at Northern Iowa a few years ago.
Central Florida: Northeastern Oklahoma (JC) head coach Ryan Held has accepted a position on Scott Frost’s staff. Held played his college ball at Nebraska from 1992-1996.

Also, per RoCal Twitter account he was let go. But, always will Bleed Black and Gold.

Go RoCal!
Frost is going to be bring in his own guys. Rocal was too much of an 'O'leary guy' to keep around.

Kevin Smith is most likely much more valuable to Coach Frost to keep around with his brief NFL experience and ties to Dade County

Pretty cool. I would just say he needs a new hairstyle to coach more effectively at this level.

Look at Pitino with a wig and glasses. Tryna infiltrate UCF and throw one of those Louisville sex parties to get us in trouble again. Nope!

Frost was a good DC at NIU. Trust me. He hasn't forgotten defense. The reason you have not heard much in defense is because he is still getting his guy.

Frost likes aggressive defense. It will probably be a 4-3 base with a lot of cover 2. But he wants his defense to attack.

I would love to see UCF blitz. GOL knew what he was doing, but blitzes are so much fun and we rarely blitzed. Sometime it drove me nuts.

I think his attack defense will have a lot of blitzing. A lot of DBs will be gambling as well.

Frost at NIU philosophy was stopping the run and preached getting 3 and outs. So like the guy above said the DBs will gamble and the defense will attack the football.

I don't think you guys realize how special of a football coach you guys landed. Frost will consult a lot with his former colleagues such as Kelly, Helfrich and of course Tom Osborne. I bet next year Tom Osborne is spotted at at least one UCF game in 2016.

Frost is going to mold his style of coaching around the way Osborne did. You guys are going to be fun to watch. Can not wait to see that Oregon style offense at UCF.

I'm officially a fan.

Frost is a very smart man - congratulations on getting a great coach.

He is pretty tuned into football on both sides of the ball. He hung on for six years as a safety in the NFL.

For those of you that don't know much about him, here is your tidbit of the day:

As a high school senior, he rushed for over 1500 yards, passed for over 2100 yards, and was a Parade All American. But the tidbit is that he won the gold in the Nebraska state shot put as a senior, coached by his mother (an Olympic athlete and national discus champion for three consecutive years in the 60's).

As a Husker fan, and a Scott Frost fan, I'm looking forward to UCF becoming my 'second favorite team.'

Go Knights!

GO BIG RED!

Trust me this guy here realizes who we have.

He's going to force 3 and outs with the philosophy that we can score with the ball more than the other team based on our number of possessions being greater and scoring more times per possession.

It's a possession and gamble game. Attack. Try to demoralize the other team as quickly as possible. Get the ball back and wear them out.

Will you get burned sometimes? Of course, but you can't play scared with a fear of failure. The players will have more fun and confidence will grow.

He hasn't been in Orlando even a week and I already love his work ethic on the recruiting trail. He's made a lot of phone calls and is already showing up at FL HS games. Completely different energy from the last staff

As a player, as a coach, I don't think anyone outworks Frost.

In a national championship game for Nebraska, as the QB, he pitched the ball and ended up lead blocking for Ahman Green - Frost blew a DB right off his feet.

At Oregon, you may recall a blunder made by one of their running backs on the sideline a few years ago when Frost was the receivers coach. After LaGarrette Blount, the RB, through a punch on a Boise State player, Frost picked him up from behind and hauled him off.

Dude is mentally and physically tough.

Blunder? Do you work in the PR department for Oregon? That was one of the most dangerous sucker punches I have ever seen. I think he "blundered" a few times in the NFL too. :grimace:

Twasn't an error or a mistake. He was fully cognizant and intentional while committing assault. But I was just messing with you. I appreciate your input.

I agree. I hope he keeps Kevin Smith and Jeff Godfrey on staff as I think their Miami connections would help with recruiting.
