extremely sad to hear of yet another one.

media companies need to stop publishing the names and pictures of the shooters and just go with a general description.

Yea, totally. That's the problem.
come on now, i think we can both agree that the media attention isnt the root cause. we obviously differ wildly on that part. but dont you think that the media attention is at least a factor? i think some of these kids want to be infamous.

Just stop. Fame is in no way a motivation in any way shape or form for anything, anywhere, ever.

This is 62% trump's fault and 38% the NRA. They should both get the ban hammer.

We live in a country where high school and middle school children can obtain a gun with ease and shoot other middle school children.

High school shooting a week or so ago, school shooting in Indiana today, a home shooting with two children dead by a 13 year old in Florida a few days ago, and you guys keep insisting guns aren't a problem.

Why do these kids want to kill their classmates. That seems like the biggest problem to me.

If guns were the problem we would have a LOT more shootings.

The US has over 300 million guns held by civilians. El Salvador, the most violent country in the world has 600,000. So we have about 1 gun for every 1 citizen. El salvador has 1 gun for every 10 citizens. The US has less than 10% of the homicide rate of El salvador, but 10 times the per capita gun count.

kids cant just buy guns, that is illegal. the problem is the parents dont take enough precaution to lock them up so their crazy kids cant easily access them without knowing.

Did you really just write something that stupid, and Wayne liked it?

El Salvador is a third-world country that has been torn apart by civil war and gangs for over 100 years, and subjugated as a Spanish colony prior to that.

So, you're saying that responsible gun owners really aren't that responsible with their guns?

there are over 300 million guns and trillions of rounds of ammo in this country all owned by around 60 million gun owners. id say the vast majority of them are responsible. in fact concealed carry permit holders are some of the most responsible people in this country.

that said, there are always going to be bad apples. these people clearly dont know their own children enough and other people had to pay the price which is a tragedy.

Well, if you keep comparing us to El Salvador, I guess you could think they are responsible.

Meanwhile, everyone else compares us to Canada, Europe, Australia, Japan, etc... and we're an embarrassment.

i never mentioned el salvador, i think you are confused.

australia just had a school shooting a week or 2 ago. unfortunately these things happen all over. we just hear more about the ones here for obvious reasons.

There are dozens of millions of students in America the vast majority aren't going to want to kill their classmates.

That said, there are always going to be bad apples. The problem is that the bad apples can get guns

It's easier to legislate away a lump of plastic and steel than it is to legislate away mental illness.

So what you're saying is that there isn't a direct correlation between number of guns and violence. You're saying that there's a correlation between being and undeveloped country or one with a tie to Spain and violence. Makes sense.

No, I'm saying you made a piss-poor analogy. Compare the U.S. to the rest of the western world.

My white, right wing, wasp friends: please understand that after all of these shootings that it's clear that you are not responsible enough to own a gun. Only the government is at the highest level. Just accept this blanket statement and understand that my intentions are good. If we have to take your arms with superior firepower then we will, but just turn them in voluntarily so we don't have to defend ourselves with a gun and shoot you. Your life is worth more than the freedom to make choices for yourself and we must enforce what is best for your lives with deadly force of necessary.

There’s no sense arguing with chemmie on anything having to do with guns. He runs with the lefty opinion of the day, spouts gross inaccuracies and keeps repeating them even after they’re continually debunked, and refuses to learn anything at all. He’s just one big fat emotional appeal. He belongs in the Windy City echo chamber but, unfortunately, he has decided to grace us with this corporeal presence persistently.

Actually, it is the main reason. Guaranteed infamy. Most aged journalists agree this is the problem. It started with Manson. It spiraled even worse in the late '90s, the heyday of school shootings.

It does not require guns. Homemade bombs work just as good. Just ask the 'pretty boy bomber,' got the front page of Rolling Stone and throbbed the hearts of millions of American women.

I'm a Libertarian and staunchly agree with the 1st Amendment, mainly the freedom of the press. But if anyone wants to pass a Constitutional Amendment that gags the media from saying the name of a criminal that commits any attempted mass killing, I'm so game.
