Anyone Have Slingbox Experience?

Contemplating getting a Slingbox & hooking it up to my folks DirectTV in Jacksonville for the purposes of watching Jaguars games (and anything else). There'd be what $7-10/month charge for an el cheapo additional box to them & the $150 MSRP for the slingbox. Anyone have any experience with slingbox? Like dislike? Anyone say why this wouldn't work?

Trying to avoid watching crappy feeds from annoying popup ridden sites or worse watching the Bucs.

As long as you have component cables (HDMI won't work) out of your DirecTV box into the sling you would never know you were watching it from the internet. Crystal clear HD. A good friend of mine moved back to the UK and still wanted to watch NFL so he pays me to keep a box here for him. Visited last year and he wasn't kidding about the quality. I can watch on the internet and its just as good.

My biggest complaint is channel surfing. It is terribly slow to press buttons on the remote. Watching something from the DVR takes practice and patience. But for what you're looking for its a perfect setup.

Why does HDMI not work?

I think it was an HDCP security issue. I just looked and I have an older version (Slingbox 350). The 500 model does in fact have HDMI inputs.

I was looking at all the models but it looks like I could get away w the cheap one if I want to do component but HDMI seems like the easier & more expensive option. Haven't seen component cables in a minute.
