Last football season is really where my apathy started to settle in. Gus Malzahn’s final year was a disaster. The team looked lost every week, no identity, no fight, just a slow-motion train wreck. And then he “left” before they could officially fire him. Let’s be real, we all know what that was. I was just relieved he was gone.

Then Scott Frost comes back, and yeah, that felt like a shot of hope. It was the first time in a while I felt something good might be coming. But even then, I couldn’t get excited. Not because I don’t believe in Frost, but because I’ve hit the point where I just don’t feel anything for the program right now. It’s not about rankings or talent. I’m just burned out.

Basketball had me hopeful for a bit. We came out strong, looked like we had something real going. Then it fell apart. We somehow made a run in the tournament, which was fun, but now the whole roster is turning over again, so what’s the point?

Then baseball kicks off, and it’s more of the same. New coach, great start, momentum building, and then, collapse. Again. Now we’re in a full-on slide, and it’s tough to watch.

I’ve never felt this disconnected from UCF sports. I used to live and breathe this stuff. Now I don’t even bother watching the highlight reels. There’s no spark left. I’m not even angry. Just numb.

I can’t be the only one.
