Cable companies will still make out...as most of them will still get the $45-$50 internet cable bills from these users each and every month.

Yeah, but it won't be compatible with current televisions. You will have to buy a television that has a four prong plug so you will have to buy an adapter to plug your television in, but the adapter will have to be an Apple licensed plug adapter or else the firmware will block the electricity from getting to the television.

The remote will look like a glass scepter and have no buttons on it. You will have to tap the top corner of the remote in the exact correct rhythm in order to get the television to come on.

People are already waiting in line for the television even though prices haven't even been released yet.

Technology is more advanced than you guys think. To give us this offer they only have to kill puppies and restrict water to developing nations. Apple TV, however, is still run on the stolen souls of Itunes users (nobody reads the terms and conditions).

K_L's threads just aren't the same without mass murder and carnage.

Well done

Just thinking, that seems like a lot of money for only 25 channels.
Depends on the channels. Its worth the money to not have to sort through (and indirectly pay for) all the crappy channels that I don't want or watch. If I can pay $40 and get ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN3, and not have to pay $60 for ESPN Classic, SEC Network etc., then the juggernaut of cable companies and networks holding us all directly or indirectly hostage will start to end.

The current set up is an example of what is wrong with America. Its like the fast food companies serving you three patty hamburgers and 96 oz Coke because that looks like value for the money, when a single patty burger and 16 oz coke is enough. But the cost of serving them is roughly the same, so they serve you more of what you don't need and won't eat, because it drives sales based on "value"

Netflix would be in a lot of trouble if this goes through.

This is awesome for consumers though.

You can't get away from indirectly paying for the crappy channels but for the love of god man, take the few minutes to set up your favorites to expedite yours channel surfing !!!!

With ESPN, FX, ABC, CBS & Fox, supposedly on board already, this is kind of a no-brainer. I'm looking forward to telling FIOS to take my cable box and shove it up a very uncomfortable place...

... you know, like in the back of a Volkswagen.

So, how much is the cheapest, reliable broadband internet provider? Because I know with brighthouse, if you debundle the internet from the cable, it's much more expensive and probably wouldn't really make this more affordable.

I think we got a brighthouse quote of like $80/mo for 15 Mbit without cable. Cable TV is nearly free...

Solid Mallrats reference. :golfclap:
You're so white.

FIOS intener starts at $40 /month, I think. Provided the right channel lineup, this Apple TV service is a no brainer for me. And I'll still have Netflix and MLS Live in the same device. Big win in my opinion.

And another $40 for the Apple service is $80.

I'm currently paying exactly that for Brighthouse internet + cable TV bundle. Only I get a lot more channels.

Lucky you!!!!! I'm paying $175 for FIOS internet and cable with just 2 boxes, so pretty much this Apple TV cable service got me like:

Broadband shouldnt be nearly as expensive as it is, there's a ton of capacity between copper, unlit fiber, new fiber, etc. But since certain providers with strong lobbies get rules written in their favor, there isn't strong competiton among service providers, so consumers have to TIITB on price for now.
