ORLANDO — Tim Zanni was wrapping up a career fair at Notre Dame when a football player rushed in.

Zanni is an alumnus of the school, and it is one of his favorite places to meet business students in his role as global and U.S. technology sector leader for KPMG, one of the world’s largest auditors. On this day in early fall 2015, Zanni had several colleagues with him. As KPMG finished, a student dressed in a suit came by. He spoke to a KMPG staffer and said he was a freshman football player who had run out of practice, changed into a suit in his dorm and headed to the career fair. As a new student with little experience in that world, he didn’t have a résumé.

“We didn’t know who he was,” Zanni says. “We went to pictures on the website and found him. It was Brandon Wimbush.”

A month later, Zanni sat down with Wimbush. He was an accounting major, one of the more difficult fields of study at Notre Dame and among the top programs in the country. He wanted to graduate in three and a half years. Wimbush landed an internship with KPMG in the summer of 2016, working with one of its largest audit teams, and he left quite an impression.

“I can firmly say Brandon is one of the most impressive students — not even student-athletes — I’ve met at Notre Dame,” Zanni says.
