Join Eric Lopez and Trace Trylko as they debate some of the current topics surrounding UCF Athletics.

In this episode, the guys talk about the latest reports of potential revenue additions to the Big 12 - namely via sponsorships and private equity. Plus, the ink is dry on the Johnny Dawkins contract extension, so what is next for UCF basketball?

Also: Is the UF game a must win, NIL payments getting crazy, how did volleyball and football do this year, and who is the father of UCF Football.

Quick takes ...

Of the UCF-Florida tilt, Eric Lopez said "If they don't win, what's gonna happen? Nothing's gonna happen. You're going to coach the next game."

But does Billy coach the next week if Florida loses to UCF?

Next question...

How long will Gus Malzahn be at UCF?

The answer is pretty simple.

(A) Gus has had one losing season in 32 years, including 28 as a head coach (14 high school, 14 college).

(B) Mike Kruczek (2003) was the last head coach UCF fired. Three interims, however, were fired over the years. Given UCF's track record with its previous 11 head coaches, there is a less than 1% statistical chance that UCF fires Gus.

(C) Gus has never resigned or quit a football coaching job in the middle of the year like the three head coaches, who resigned and were supplanted by interims in the middle of tumultuous seasons.

(D) It is reasonable to say the only way Gus leaves UCF is to return to the SEC for financial purposes.

(E) However, when you compare the pressure cooker of the SEC to that of the Big 12, which has no current historic football powerhouses and a vacuum for supremacy at the top, Gus, who ain't broke by no stretch, would be a fool to leave the ease and comfort of the UCF job, which according to Lopez, "should never have a losing season," which negates the possibility of a tumultuous midseason resignation.

The simple answer is not for a long, long time.

Gus will retire as the winningest coach in UCF history. He is only 58 wins away. Trace, Gus is 6-foot-3. UCF can make his statue actual size.
