Aurora, CO shooting victims sue, lose, and now have to pay court costs

Oof. Adding insult to injury, the surviving victims of the awful mass shooting in a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado unsuccessfully sued CInemark, and under CO law, the winning side can ask the losing side to pay legal fees. The victims were offered a settlement and encouraged by the judge to take it, but they saw dollar signs and decided to forgo the settlement. They then lost.

So now the victims are on the hook for $700k. Ouch.

They took some really bad advice and will pay the rest of their lives for it. Really sucks for them.

No doubt some injury attorney gave them bad advice. They walk away with noting but a loss but their clients pay the bill. A better system would have the losing attorney pony up the cost.
