How many times did GOL try to sit on a lead coming out of halftime when Bortles had ran the offense well in first half? This is why so many in stands got really pissed off that we had to watch the other team get back into the game because the other team's halftime strategy was to keep on playing.

It's either pedal to the medal or back to those times. We never got our 2s and 3s much experience with the GOL ball control second half strategy either. Question is "How many people will complain when we lose a close game because we play all out, all the time?"

At least 1 point of whining is over- no one who loves this has a right to bitch about defense.

[laughing] remember the SMU and Temple games that season? A lot of 'wtf is this'....then late 4th quarter 'open it up Based Bortles Save us!'

I don't know, how many? I don't remember sitting on leads against Memphis, Louisville, or SMU primarily because we didn't have halftimes leads in those games. In fact only twice in conference play did we have a 2 score halftime lead (Rutgers and UConn) and both games were never in doubt.

Maybe the OP is remembering stuff that did not happen the way he thinks it did or not as often as he thinks it did. I only remember complaints that we did not make the right adjustments at halftime from time to time.

We never played a complete game with GOL. That was frustrating.
See Fiesta Bowl. See 2007 CUSA title game. Beating Louisville with like 40 seconds sounds like we were pretty much playing the whole game. Boston College stomping whatever year that was. Probably lots of other examples as well. Saying "never" is pretty ridiculous. What does it matter at this point anyways?

Most loses will result in complaints.

Let's just hope we play the same style of defense with a different offense. If we start playing no defense we'll turn into Tulsa. Defense always is the main comoponent of being dominant. I don't think that is fun to watch. It's just embarassing most of the time because you can't stop anybody.

Time of posession: UCF 34:47, Baylor 25:13. If we didn't manhandle them with ball control, and play defense we get curb-stomped. I'm not saying one way is better, either. Pick a system and we'll see how the results come out. It will all be very obvious at the end of any season.

It's funny what some people wont admit on these boards but at least there are some of us who remember all the moaning going on on the 40-50 yard line behind GOL watching his crappy kill the clock for a half stuff. Yes, when the games were close he had no choice but to keep the offense throttled down.

Far too often Bortles would have to save us after a second half of mostly running plays resulted in us almost losing the game. I guess it comes down to is if you're a person who likes a 1-0 baseball game or 7-3 football game than you're happy with old system. I like to see some scoring and more than just the 1st string out there playing all the time.

if the Program gets going like we all hope UCF should be able to recruit much more talented D Linemen and Linebackers than Tulsa to rotate in and out. Look at Houston this season and the athletes they had on Defense

Just goes to show that people will complain about anything. It is not a matter of whose system is better at this point, just win. We beat Georgia in the Liberty Bowl 10-6. so what. It was one of the best football days of my life, and Bortles was not the QB. Not sure how long you have been a fan, but there were plenty of years where we had lots of exciting football only to lose at the last minute. Why do think we were called UCiF by so many cow fans. We only began to win meaningful games in the last 10 years.

At this point I cannot wait to see the new system in action. I hope it is all it is cracked up to be. I hope it exploits the weaknesses of AAC football teams. I hope it takes UCF straight to the top. But you will never convince me that one type of win is better than another. As my high school coach used to say: "In the end they don't ask "how", they ask "how many" Only the scoreboard counts
