Gators are a seriously insensitive mascot to have after yesterday. We should petition change.org to have it removed as the mascot of UF.

Not to change the topic but I was watching some Bizarre foods the other day and Zimmern was on the Seminole Indian Reservation eating turtles, gators, mud fish, gar and heart of palm all indian style. I had to laugh at all the PC people worrying and making an issue about the insensitivity of FSU chant, mascot and the Indian head logo because there were two of the Indians wearing FSU ball caps and a kid was wearing an FSU hoodie. So much for offending the Inidans.

I am glad they found the boys body. Gives some closure to family. While I don't want killing of gators, Maybe we should round them up and have dentist pull their teeth. Kind of like when govt bought up all the ammo a couple of years ago.

Disney will settle out of court. Even though there were signs, I believe they only said "No swimming" not "Beware of wildlife". That distinction will likely cost them in the end.

Wow.

The parents aren’t at fault here. Florida is. Business owners are. Better safety measures need to be put into place when humans interact with wildlife, and all parents should be educated as to the very real danger in which they are placing their kids for what they think is a fun, cute experience. Lives are at stake, whether we want to believe it or not.

On one hand, as FL residents for more than a month, we all know that any body of water larger than a small puddle, probably has a gator in it... visitors don't expect that. On the other hand, as long as we're on earth, we're part of nature and the food chain. There really is not a start or stop to where a "beware of wildlife" sign belongs, you should always be aware of wildlife, especially when you're in an unfamiliar region.
