Bay area housing is insane

Yep. And the state basically goes in the political direction of what SF does and what their state leaders want, which means they pass taxes that are no problem for these ultra wealthy Bay Area people, yet completely gouge everyone else in the state.

People in east and northern CA would be their own state if they could.

Having worked in a tech company with a sizable number of Bay area residents, they are completely blindsided by their residency there. They look down upon all other portions of the country, as if we're backwards.

No, we're just practical.

The average hotel room is around 330 square feet (although almost all of the newer built ones are smaller).

At least you would get a sweet Murphy bed in that pillow fort.
