I know we have a contingent of fans that pick on the few questionable play calls, but Gus’ scheme was finally on full display last night and the difference was execution. I saw tight ends making first level blocks and moving on to the second level and it was a thing of beauty. I saw MK really playing an excellent football game with handoffs and pulling down when the throws weren’t there. I saw a few well timed deep passes when the time was right. Then we had a running back that could milk the clock and keep the ball out of the opponents hands.
How valuable was that time for Mikey and team!? Quick release and just a really good gameplan from Gus.
I am excited to see the future with that gameplan and when Gus gets his full roster. We were more physical and it reminded me of BYU running over us.
Heupel couldn’t win big games because his finesse teams got run over by more physical teams that played solid defense. We were that team last night.
It was so fun to watch and I have to say was like turning the knife as we bled clock and watched Gators exit the stadium. It looked like two SEC teams out there and we were the better one.
