My preference would be a current HC with a good track record.

Sumrall at Tulane should top every list....and bring his QB with him

Other than that, Chadwell and Kinne should be possibilities

Hard NO from me on Frost. At his dream job, he was lazy and spent alot of time cheating on his wife. Milton and and GOL's guys built that 2017 team.

Out of the G5 coaches, I like Chadwell. I think he can do the same or at least similar to Indianas program.
I think we call Iowa State coach and kick the Tires though

Don't think he picks up the phone for a lateral move but would be a great hire.

My issue on Chadwell is his team's performance this year.....did having McCall make him look like a better coach than he really is?

With Campbell u r right but the quality of life in Florida compared to Iowa and a little more money is certainly something to listen to imo

This is a tough job at Purdue. It takes a unique Coach. They had two coaches ( Tiller and Brohm) who were passing oriented and had success But you cannot hire a defensive coach at that school. You’ve got to finesse them with an offensive coach at Purdue because they are so behind the 8 ball getting the biguns . It’s worse with the new additions in the conference.

Y'all aim too high. Gotta be realistic. Nobody wants to follow a legend like Gus.

Tim Harris Jr. Is the leader in the clubhouse. Jeff Scott, Jim Leavitt, and Charlie Strong may have some solid interest. Alex Golesh has been mentioned as a possibility.

It definately isn't a good job, and shouldn't be competition for us

Let me throw Kliff Kingsbury out there. Look at what he’s done with rookie Jaden Daniels this season as Washington’s OC. He’s got the experience but is still young. Obviously hasn’t shown he can make a good DC hire though

Wow, real darkhorse candidate. Would he be interested in sitting in a teenager's living room practically begging them to commit?

Todd Monken is an interesting name if he has any interest in going back to CFB. Think I prefer him over Kliff, worked under Kirby

The thing about Sumrall, if he did choose to come here, is that you know he is bolting the moment the Kentucky job comes open (or another high profile position). Which could be just after a year, like his Tulane tenure would be

(Which by the way, wouldn’t mind, because that guarantees that he’d have success during his time here)

Those are the chances we take if we hire a good coach.....at least this time it would take a good P4 job to lure him away unlike several years ago when ANY P5 job was better than ours.

A couple of the guys mentioned in this article on Purdue would be interesting here too......anyone want to kick the tires on Dan Mullen?

I think the only fit here is probably Mullen from that article. The other guys are all Midwest guys who don’t run really exciting offenses. The guy from Toledo has regressed with by far the most tools to work with in the MAC

I think you need a guy who has either been really successful or a Florida guy with ties to the state. Would like a guy with HC experience Jmo

Are saying on Twitter it's Kinne. What a joke. Expect to be bottom feeders for the foreseeable future.

Why on earth wouldn't we want our experienced national championship coach back

WTF?

Did you pay any attention to how he was at his "dream job"? Go spend some time on the corn children forum....his lack of morals and work ethic was shocking.....BTW, he sucked as a coach there too.

Gonna need an explanation on why he is so high as a candidate w 5 losses

Next round of sackings will be TMo and Kinne if true. Kid is going to be in way over his head stepping up in class. No meaningful connections in Florida recruiting like Frost what a disaster

Different situations. We know frost turned around our program fast. Do you think Kinnie can do the same thing? Not really working out too well for ol lead belly over at Mississippi State and he's way more experienced than Kinnie

I have seen some WVU fans want Kinne who just fired Brown

Just confused why so many or high on him w that many losses . Gonna need a breakdown on why

Did Brown just get sacked?

This has to be a hangover from last year when Texas St shocked multiple P5 teams.

Texas St has a good offense this year:

Team Statistical Rankings

RushingPassingOverall
Off.209.3
(16th)
265.1
(30th)
6th

Of the 5 losses, 4 were by a TD or less.....one was to Arz St (we know that feeling), one was to 10-2 Louisiana

Something to be noted is he built that program from nothing fairly quickly. In Jake Spavital’s 4 years there, he went 13-35.

It would be kind of mind bending though to go from the former Tulsa OC in Gus to Gus’ former QB at Tulsa

Not sold on Kinnie, would’ve much preferred Sumrall. Seems like this 24 hour period of Gus leaving and us already having a coach in line is being done by bean counters. We just saved millions without having to pay Gus and we’re rushing to fill his spot with the lowest bidder?

In other news, the volleyball HC just got her walking papers 😬

Kinne does have a lot of players speaking highly of him ..guess the thinking is he could fix the scoring offense issue under Gus w full control
