Not Tampa, not the rankings (tho it would be insanely stupid if they're not ranked this week). Our best season we end up 10th. Their best season ever--- low 20s. But they'll always have the 10 seconds they were ranked 2. And again, ranked 2 in their history, and this year have their best season ever, and NO ONE NOTICES!

If UCF didn't lose to Temple in the final 34 seconds of the game, USF would of won the East today. Our loss to Temple doesn't sting so much anymore?
In 2007, when we were beat 64-12. I sat in a pretty packed 3rd level. There were 60-65,000 fans. What happened since then??

When we only lost 1 game, we were 2-1 against top 15 teams....as they were ranked at the end of the season. They had a quality win against Navy. They won the games they should win, so I'll give them that. They just didn't win any games they needed to win to make their season special.

Anyways, USF will likely finished ranked this season if we win our bowl game (low 20s like you said), that is the way it is now in the AAC. The "Power 5" has ruined everything.
Quit your bitching. Its obvious the rivalry matters when UCF is winning more. South Florida still beats P5 teams and no one cares. Thats why its important for us to do the same. Thats the difference between our programs. Our fanbase falls in love when we beat Penn State..scholarship attacked because of coaches who like to sexually assualt underage kids. South Florida fanbase doesn't care when they beat Syracuse or FSU or Miami.

As with any urban, non-flagship state university. No isolated (i.e., trapped) student population of a college town. No statewide dominance of the media and water-cooler work conversation. No national network of alums, like USC, Notre Dame, BYU, or Stanford. UCF and USF will always be swimming upstream. UCF at least has a much younger surrounding metro population than Tampa Bay area, more of a statewide student and alumni footprint, an on-campus stadium, and no NFL team to compete with.
I live in South Carolina and I see UCF stuff and people all over SC and Georgia. UCF's sheer number of graduates is going to make us a national name in both academics and sports in the next 10-20 years.
