I'm surprised none of you snapperheads have talked about this at all with all the bitching you do about it. You'd think this would be the biggest topic.

Much needed. I think we are required that the sound go away from the residential areas. It would be nice to have a large HD scoreboard with good audio. I would love for us to add chairback seats in the entire stadium (minus student section). That would reduce the metal look of the stadium. Then add a nice facade around the stadium and remove all chain link fencing.

Need renderings.

Chairback seats reduce stadium capacity by a little over 10%. Besides, the stadium doe not have a "metal look" when most of the seats are filled.

Then we build an upper deck, beer garden and expand Roth tower. We need seat backs.

I don't believe we reduce the stadium by 10% anyway. Student section would stay bench seating which is perfectly fine at 25% of stadium seating. The rest of the paying folks deserve an actual chairback plus not to look at chain link fencing.

Chain link fence belongs in a a prison not a football field.

Back in my UCF days (80s) that TV would have aluminum foil flags on the antennae for better reception!
I thought of you after seeing this. It was classic when we were having the exact same issues with Tuesday's radio show trying to listen from work before it went to the IHeart radio App.

We need brick. I'm willing to build it if UCF buys the materials.

Getting Rid of Chain Link Fencing is fine.

Take away the 12,000 student seats from our stadium and you have about 32,000 seats remaining, so a 10% reduction would come to a loss of about 3,000 - 3,200 seats. We're trying to make ourselves look MORE attractive to a P5 conference, not LESS attractive.

The rest of the paying folks deserve an actual chairback.

Here is a partial list of well known schools where the vast majority of the seat are metal bleachers (most without backs).

Nebraska, Oregon, Georgia Tech, Washington, Ohio State, Clemson, NC State, Arkansas, TCU, Georgia, Oklahoma State, Texas, Kansas State, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, Michigan, Auburn, Arizona, Florida State.

So, you are saying UCF "paying folks" are more deserving of chairback seating than all these other "paying folks" who pay more for their tickets and booster donations than we do?

I'm hoping that we will one day need to increase seating capacity. I think that BHSN can expand to 60,000. Any talk whatsoever of decreasing seating capacity is crazy. How many seats did we lose to the cabana? I bet you that capacity now is only 45,000-48,000.

Winning puts fans in the seats, not chair-backs.

I agree. Capacity before the cabana was just over 45,000. I don't remember exactly how many seats we lost, but it was not a large number. I think the official capacity now is just under 45,000.

Wow. Well.. If we are under 45,000 that's just not good. I don't plan on us being crappy forever, so if we start playing an exciting style of football, start winning, or play a team like a Stanford or even Maryland, we are gong to be turning fans away. Not a bad problem to have, but not at 44,000 for a school that could use the revenue.

UCF has 3 premium areas where those that want chairback seats can get them:

1) Suites
2) West Side Roth Tower Club
3) East Side Cabana Club (not sold out)

Almost all on-campus college football stadiums have a majority bleacher seating areas...as you would not only have a loss of capacity going all chairback...but the expense for just 6 home games per year is generally not worth it, especially when you are not selling out most of your games.

Attendance fell dramatically when structural supports prevented fans from shaking the stadium during Zombie Nation. I was home watching one game and discovered how much the video image was moving about because of the TV camera moving to students jumping on the stands!

Attendance fell dramatically because of that??? Tell me you're just joking. If the only reason that a fan is attending their teams home games is because of the stadium bouncing, then that's pretty sad

Engineers didn't plan for everyone bouncing at the same time which would have made the structure unstable. They had no choice but to add more reinforced steel. They reduced playing zombie nation at basketball games because it was going to destroy the temporary stands.

I don't think adding steel made an issue.

It seems like such a minor cost to get rid of the chain fencing. Brick around the bottom area would look great!

Even if brick...UCF would probably still do a stadium wrap for badly needed advertising $$$...as no one sees that chain link fence on game days anyway. (Plus, brick would trap in the sound of all the foot-stomping...something that helps give UCF a home field advantage).

Now I think a stadium wrap at the top of the stadium (2 sided wrap so it can be seen inside/outside the stadium) would help give an inexpensive solution to can help give BHNS a much more completed look.

You see the chain link everywhere on tv. From the bottom walk way to mid-level to upper level. On each set of stairs is nothing but chain link. It is everywhere. The cabana area finally used stadium railing which looks 100% better.

We need to kill the chain link fencing asap.

If it bothers you so much, why not raise some $$$ for a solution?

I never really notice the chain link fence whenever I am watching any of the 6 games a year inside BHNS....as the only time it seems noticeable is before or after a season (or in a spring game when the wrap is not installed).

Wow, as usual a thread gets hijacked to become a wish list of things we "should" have. I for one am happy that we have what we have. It could be so much worse. We could be stuck at the Citrus Bowl. If you want seat backs and big screens, great sound and more we could play at RJS. Would that suit?

Who gives a crap what it looks like. It is ours.

The reality is we are competing with other sports entertainment which does have nice amenities. People have access to large HD quality tv and they don't have to deal with the parking, money, etc. Everyone here is probably a hard core fan, but causal fans expect paying over $1,000 for a family of four for sidelines seats you don't have to look at chain fencing.

I am happy for the record about the video and sound upgrade.

I don't think UCF has a demographic where we are competing much for casual fans. For UCF it is much more about the product on the field rather than the facilities. I don't think I have ever heard anyone say "Meh, I am not going to a UCF game because there is too much chain link". They go if we are winning. We are looking to hook more grads than casual fans. If we get into a P5 we can use the extra money to upgrade facilities.

No way UCF can financially keep up with facilities of the professional sports at this point. Pay for better coaches, travel and other things that matter more first.

Facilities are a vanity. UCF should be putting their money where they get the most bang for the buck. They did need better sound for sure. The scoreboard was just adequate.

the chain link is an eyesore for the Stadium and can't be that much to fix. Most of the suggestions are just minor aesthetic improvements that the last AD didn't seem too concerned about ever improving. I love having BHNS but there could be tweaks to have it better represent UCF, it gets the most national press for UCF during the Fall and you can argue that it's the most stale facility on a very beautiful campus. Removing the chain link and something as simple as gold bench covers on every other row would have a big impact in how the stadium looks, especially when it's not completely sold out

I hear it all the time. One guy walking into the stadium said it looked like Nascar stands. I hear erector

Chain link is an easy fix. Use standard stadium railing. We could easily add plastic seat covers like the old citrus bowl had on the bench seating. That would also limit the metal look too.

I personally hate the seat backs on the bleacher seats. The angel on the setbacks are terrible and it really limits the leg room for us taller (over 6ft) people. I say leave the seats how they are. Upgrade the video board (add another?) and the speaker system.
