Bianchi, YOU are wrong....

ok that article got me back on the Cristobal Train[laughing]. This is exactly what he would do

Kelly deftly and defiantly went into South Florida and recruited the entire receiving corps — Breshad Perriman, J.J. Worton, Rannell Hall and Josh Reese — that would help lead UCF into the Fiesta Bowl two years ago.

Also on the Fiesta Bowl team was Storm Johnson, the star running back whom Kelly helped convince to sign with UCF after he made the decision to transfer from Miami. Those who follow recruiting closely will tell you Kelly was instrumental in signing nearly half the UCF starting lineup in the Fiesta Bowl.

Kelly lied to the NCAA. He did get us a lot of great recruits from Miami but he screwed up.

Tribble was just plain stupid. He shouldn't be a manager at McDonald's.

Perriman went to HS in Georgia. But that's close enough I guess.

Me too. Plus Cristobal isn't JUST a recruiter. He's had the HC experience to learn from. He's had the experience under Nick Saban as an associate HC, so he's basically learned from the best at how to run to a college program from the top down. He's young and he's got some fire. He'll find the assistants we need that know how to recruit FL and the rest of the southeast. If Miami doesn't take him we'd be insane not to at least give him serious consideration.

The NCAA is far from an angel in these violation inquiries. Kelly still says he did not lie, and who knows maybe he didn't, but didn't say what NCAA wanted to hear. No doubt UCF having to fire him, was a bad day for him and the school. Hopefully he can get back in to college FB and work his way back up the ranks. He wouldn't be the first or last coach to have had the NCAA hit him.

No. There is a whole other thread on Cristobal as to why NOT to hire him. Here it is:

Unfortunately, Kelly has been black-balled from college football. His last gig was the start of the NFL season as a "consultant" for the Arizona Cardinals. Which to me, essentially is an old friend threw him some bread to be around camp, so he stays afloat financially.

I firmly believe GOL, Hitt, and other higher ups set him up as the fall guy. Not to say he's completely innocent, but that others knew and were involved with the rule-breaking that did take place (if it did), but didn't step up. SMH

Reading back on the Kelly case, I wonder if he wouldn't be a great candidate to come back to UCF. He says he is wanting to come back. UCF can fork over $100K to clear him from the fiasco of an investigation which had many of the same investigators fired from the Miami case.

The athletic director, the guy in charge, the guy who hires and fires, the guy who is supposed to be the gatekeeper to UCF athletics was directly involved in all of this. He was the moron who thought this was a good idea and caused this to happen. I seriously doubt that anyone needed a fall guy when your AD is the guy spearheading it.

I remember that there were rumors that David Kelly was our HCIW. Was there any truth to that statement?

Yeah I don't understand it at all. The guy had no charisma.
What? Did you ever meet the guy? That was one cool motherfukcer, dude. He and Joe Hornstein were both very nice people to talk to and you could tell they loved UCF.

Perriman went to HS in Georgia. But that's close enough I guess.
yeah that was his only mistake but I can see that being easy to mix up bc his Dad played Football at Miami

my favorite part of that article is how Kelly had the mindset that there is no reason UCF should lose these recruits with our current resources

Joe was ok; however, Tribble was clearly a ME type of personality. It was a great facade he displayed for you.
I got nothing bad to say about either and the way they both interacted with my wife and I, especially Joe Hornstein.. He got my music on the football intro video so he'll always be super cool in my book.

M-fer is a good description...which is why he avoided GKC Members almost every chance he could get.

The saying "Never Bullsh-t a bullshitter"....his BS, the few times he was forced to meeting GKC members, was on full display...let alone all the games he played behind the scenes (getting Asst Coaches to go against their HC advice...getting involved with illegal, let alone shaddy "runners" in recruiting), he was a total disaster.

Not a coincidence that the 2 schools he worked at prior, UNLV and UF, went on probation during or right after he left those schools.

He learned from the best cheaters....(hence why not even a community college athletic program would hire him to do with anything related to athletics today).

Kelly and Tribble were guilty of being too aggressive more than anything else. They took a chance on a guy (amateur coach/agent) who presented himself as clean (not motivated by money) but couldn't prove it when he was scrutinized by the establishment (NCAA).

That's when the dominoes began to fall. At that point we ALL got a prison experience. This season it's becoming more apparent how the fan community got screwed.

GOL didn't like Tribble and was unsure of Kelly's loyalty because Kelly did like Tribble and had contacts with him beyond GOL's control. Therefore, GOL didn't fight to keep Kelly.

We need another David Kelly from my perspective. Playing safe will continue to keep us in G5 land. The next great recruiter for UCF will bring in questionable players if we are going to compete.

Kelly was able to motivate and keep the young men focused on improving their lives. He is a quality person and people who say he's NOT don't know the man. Go back and listen to (read) what all the recruits who Kelly brought in said about David Kelly.

HIRE CHARLIE PELL, THE BEST CHEATER OF THEM ALL!! Oh wait, he is dead. Who currently could cheat us into national prominence? Get us into the P5 and then we would not have to worry if we got caught and put on probation again.

"The players always mention how they love Cristobal's passion and energy,” said Charles Power, who covers recruiting for BamaOnline.com. “He is a very outgoing, but genuine approach and connects well with the players and their families. The parents love him too. They find him very easy to talk to. Multiple top players, including the state's top prospect Daron Payne, continually tell us that their relationship with Cristobal stands out.

Sounds pretty good to me.

We can't afford them. They currently coach for the Seahawks and Patriots.

the question of going for scheme that slowly tries to mend local and in state recruiting

or

A recruiting machine with the risk of being an average gameday coach

Love this comment from a Bama Fan

"Why are we even recruiting 3 stars. Let burn or the vols have em. We must get the no.1 class or Saban must go. All this crap hireing usc cast offs and talkin with ex vols qb's is bad enough. But offering 3 star athletes is not good. Whats goin on in Nicks head'

Talk about different priorities...

Uhhh, Tribble IS a Charlie Pell disciple. Feel free to fact check.

But look how far Fl has risen since the Pell era.

Based on what ive read on this thread and past stories, in the future we should recruit Bama's 3 stars, stay away from Pell disciples, don't mess with Louisville, dont mess with the Texas media (cause i watched the SMU special) and keep hanging out in South Florida because when we were nice to them there were really nice to us (the new U reputation).*

Kelly is a terrible person because he lied. UCF would NEVER, in a million years, hire a coach that would lie on record. I would peg him right up there with the rest of the low character coaches that are still coaching or were coaching this year like Carl Pelini, Petrino, Pitino and Sarkisian am i right?

Without Kelly, UCF no longer recruits the players that brought us our on field success, aka south florida, and now its starting to show. Its not the sanctions that were brought upon us because of Kelly and Tribble thats hurting us the most. Its lack of talent, because we don't have a recruiter who can recruit like Kelly could and probably still can given a shot. In 2010 alone, we signed 9 recruits out of the city of Miami, compared to only 9 players from the entire state of Florida in the past two recruiting classes... that's pathetic!

Lets get Kelly back on the payroll so we can compete again or lets hope we find someone who can recruit Miami/Florida as well as Kelly did. Gotta cheat like the big boys to compete with the big boys. How's that whole cheating thing working out for the New England Patriots? #makeUCFgreatagain #bringkellyback #hesaidhewassorry

Kelly and Tribble may both be great people when you know them personally, but being a great person doesn't mean that you're incapable of dishonest acts. I knew someone once who did a lot of great things for kids we worked with and was very friendly, but at the same time she stole hundreds of dollars from the place we worked for. Neither Kelly nor Tribble should ever come back to UCF, and I'm not saying that in a hateful way. I'm just saying that there's too much baggage for either of them to ever return.
