Big 12 Isn't Expanding

Well said. They have no reason to now that the NCAA let them hold a conference championship game. This delay (and it is a delay) because if they wait too long, the Pac 12 snaps up BYU and either Oklahoma or Kansas (or else the 14-team conferences go to 16), leaving the Big 12 with a far thinner field of choices and assuring the collapse of the conference.

this whole thing ends with the Big 12 squeezing a little more out of ESPN and FOX in exchange for staying at 10 teams.

This is the only scenario in which they don't expand. They have the networks by the balls with that contract and would be passing up additional revenue by not expanding. I could see why the networks would want to talk it over. The question is whether the money stipulated in the contract plus the possibility of stabilizing the conference for the future is more compelling than a negotiated bump in revenue to stay at 10 for the foreseeable future.

BYU is damaged goods, nobody is "snapping them up"

I think the fact that they started looking at 18 schools smells of a log jam in the process and not of a quick decision as they initially stated. I wouldn't take the UH fan's word as something to base any opinion on.

My biggest question continues to be "Even if we get into the Big 12 are we setting ourselves up for another let down like the Big East fiasco?" If the Big 12 experience is going to be short lived for new teams, I'm not convinced that we should waste ANY resources on changing all our sports, etc. for the good of this league. UCF football is moving forward despite this drama. Just going after more money is not enough reason to sell your soul!

I always had doubts, but time will tell. I still don't think they add more than 2. I don't think UCF has a shot with less than 4.

Is that the date college girls website click-bait spam? LOL.

You didn't already get a date, bro? That link hooked it up! [banana] :100points: Don't miss out. Also, my friend started working from home and is making over $50 an hour. PM me and ask me how - don't forget to include your SSN, home address, bank account routing number, and a list of your greatest fears. ;)

Did I miss out on the dates? I was holding off because my funds are currently tied up helping a Nigerian prince.

“Those who are talking don’t know, and those who know aren’t talking.”
Outside the presidents and athletic directors of the 10 institutions that comprise the Big 12, anyone who claims to know what is going to happen is really just making an educated guess.

No reason to click on the source of that quote unless want to read another speculative article on expansion:

Wow, why single out UCF there on the "play by the rules" thing? Does this guy have Google? I could've continued, but you get the point, the hits keep coming...

2009: Memphis must vacate its NCAA-record 2007-08 season and serve three years' probation because of NCAA rules violations, the NCAA committee on infractions announced Thursday.

2011: The NCAA placed the University of Cincinnati on two years of probation Thursday for violating rules on calling recruits in its women's basketball and football programs.

2011: The Boise State football program will be docked nine scholarships over a three-year period, and the athletic department must serve three years' probation as a result of widespread rules violations, the NCAA announced Tuesday.

2016: It’s a flagrant foul of the worst kind. ESPN reports the University of South Florida men’s basketball program is under NCAA investigation.

The association is looking into possible academic fraud. Assistant USF Coach Oliver Antigua resigned Wednesday. His brother, Head Coach Orlando Antigua, is beginning a national search for a replacement.

Good ol' play it by the rules Iowa St....... "has agreed that it has committed "major violations" of NCAA rules" over 3 years, over 33 coaches from every athletic program at Iowa St, from 2011 to 2013. Home of the Larry Eustachy scandal (not really that much, just the BB coach seen parting with girls from the opposing team's sorority etc. after his team loses to them). Obviously Iowa St would have learned from 2013 and haven't done anything since.

Oh really?

"Iowa State’s football program under new Coach Matt Campbell committed 13 minor NCAA violations from Jan. 1, 2016 through April 21, 2016."

Iowa St. home of playing it by the rules. Iowa St's President is as aware of his own programs as Baylor's was.

The good news is that university presidents are making the decision. Guessing they will have access to Google.

Heck, must be jealous, it only took Iowa St 79 years to get in their first bowl game, haven't had a winning record since 2009, last conference title was 1912, so I guess they are desperate to find top rated teams to keep the Big 12 a P5 conference once UT and Okla-Okla St leave since Iowa St isn't going to be good, ever. Not to mentioned being constantly overshadowed by Iowa.

Get this. Their acceptance rate is 85%, almost twice UCF's. In other words, they take everyone. Their low end SAT (25th percentile is 990) -- you get 400 for signing your name on the exam.

It's hard to imagine enough students applying to fill an undergraduate class and commit to 4 years in Iowa. Maybe these Big12 schools have a great reason to keep us out -- how are you gonna keep 'em down on the farm after they've seen UCF?

Cause it would take them a month to get to Orlando on their tractors.
