I guess there is CFP meeting this week. Still haven't seen anything from the other conferences on their thoughts of the championship game deregulation and whether they would back the Big 12 doing it with 10. All 10 FBS commissioners and ND will be at this meeting. WVU coach says something about everybody shoul be doing the same thing. Have heard similar from the Stanford coach.
At the same time, Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby is likely to seek clarification about how the lack of a conference championship game will impact his schools. A year ago, TCU and Baylor each had one regular-season loss — and each was left out of the playoff.
The Big 12 believed it wouldn’t be hurt by the absence of a title game. After Ohio State vaulted into the top four with a 59-0 win over Wisconsin in the Big Ten title game, CFP selection committee chairman Jeff Long said the extra game had boosted the Buckeyes’ résumé.
As the sting has sunk in, a majority of Big 12 coaches said this month they would back the return of a title game with just 10 members — if the NCAA agrees to ease its rules on conference title games.
“One thing I've always been a proponent of is everybody doing the same thing,” West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen said. “Being on the same level, I think, is important. Last year, I think it kind of hurt the Big 12 a little bit."
