Big 12 to add "tie-breaker"

They have to address the tie-breaker for the next few seasons. If they don't announce expansion by July, there will be at least two, maybe three, seasons before they can get to 12 members.

tiebreaker is which school has the hottest chicks.

As long as the other P5 conferences have Championship games and the B12 doesn't, I expect the CFP committee will continue to look unfavorably on the B12 Champ regardless of the method they use to pick said Champ. The only way I see the B12 champ NOT getting left out on a perrenial basis is: they are the clear-cut #1 or 2 in the country; the B12 gets their 10 team Championship game waiver; or the B12 expands.

$$$$ signs have completely blinded these idiots. Like many, many others have said they are behaving as stupidly as the Big East. That really worked out well. But I guess they really don't care since if the Big 12 dies, they'll just get picked up by the others so it really won't matter. Money now, money later.

You know who should be worried is Baylor, TCU, Kansas state, and okie state. They are the ones who stand the most to lose from a dismantling of the B12.

All of which are very good points. Us UCF fans are biased, but it's hard not to parallel the old Big East to the the Big 12.

Baylor, TCU, Kansas State should be worried. Baylor and TCU would be a non starter for the Pac 12 (religious institutions). Okie State would likely be a package job with OU to the Pac 16 with Texas and TTU. I could also see Okie State to the SEC, if overtures to a NC school or a Virginia school fail to pan out. Iowa State should be on the list of worrying. The Big 10 is not going to double down in Iowa, and their (Iowa State) football has never really been all that good.

In the event that an undefeated Big 12 champ was not #1 or #2 they would almost certainly get in then as well. But more than likely an undefeated team in a Power 5 conference would be #1 or #2 (although FSU did end up being #3, they still got in). My question is would undefeated FSU have gotten in w/o a conference championship game win and a 1 loss Baylor winning a Big 12 championship game over a top 15 team like Kansas State?

The Big 12 will eventually succumb to pressure to expand. I don't know if they would take UCF or not, but who really believes that they're going to stay at 10 members forever? If the Big 12 wants to have a conference championship game without expanding, then here is a question they need to answer: Why should the other P5 conferences change the rule about needing 12 members to have a championship game? The SEC, Big 10, ACC, and PAC 12 did nothing to prevent the Big East's demise; I don't see them allowing a rule change that only benefits the Big 12.

Guess the real question is who really cares to keep the Big 12 conference. Maybe the conference commissioner and the 3 teams who won't get picked up by the P5, the rest- do they care?

No major changes will happen before P5 TV deals come up. It is highly unlikely the B12 goes away, and much like the BE a few years ago adding 2 sooner rather than later would guarantee that. I don't expect them to make that move though. Adding 2 or 4 as they get near the end of the TV deal is very possible. The B12 losing a couple as the GOR expires is also very possible.

The thing to remember is Expansion is always piecemeal and the B12 will have time to reload, question is will they still be a power conf?
