Blake Bortles retires

A legend. And always good for a laugh.

""I quietly... I didn't tell anybody, I retired," he said Wednesday, when asked if he was in good shape to sign with an NFL team. "I guess you guys are kind of the first to hear it publicly."

His work ethic at UCF was off the charts. I wonder if kept that in the NFL... I only saw him at UCF practices.

I remember how many UCFans said he should transfer when Jeff Godfrey committed. Even more said it with Jeff starting at QB. Great reminder to give players time to develop than to write them off when they are UCFreshmen or Sophomores

And to think, the dumbass Gators only wanted him as a tight end. BTW, they sure could have used him in 2013, lol.

Has it been a year since his last game? Is this the announcement or did he sign the paperwork?

In the article he stated that if he were offered $15 mil for 2 years he'd jump at it so it sounds like he hasn't filed anything.

Then he stated, IIRC, he hasn't picked up a FB since Jan, something no GM is gonna wanna hear so I think he's done.

Well, he lasted a lot longer than "Johnny Football." But sadly, the curse of the Jags meant his career was doomed from the start.
Curse of the Jags? Cut it out. There's no "curse of the Jags." This was always a weak take to me. Sail on to the BOAT!

2017 was the first year of Knight Flicks and you should watch the whole season/episodes. Awesome docs, I think they even won many awards for it.

I’m assuming you’re just saying 2013 b/c it was the first NY6 and win against Baylor who no one gave us a chance. But it was not better than 2017, not even close. 2013 we should have beaten a year ended top 5 SC as we were leading at half time by 10 if I remember right (our only loss). Our Dline and LB depth failed us as they ran it down our throats in 2nd half, was brutal to watch. We also won a ton of games in the last second, could have easily lost them too.

2017 we dominated our way mostly through the schedule until the last 2 games against usf and Memphis in the AAC CG. Both games were classics too, exciting, close and last second wins. Then we dominated an Auburn team who didn’t sit any players, who beat both Alabama and UGA (the CFP Reps in the Championship Game) and only lost by 1 point in an away game to Clemson (another CFP rep). We literally had a chance if we got invited to the playoff, and the shared National Champ claim is real b/c of all this. Easily our best season, but I love 2013 as well as the Boat. The Louisville last second TD win, the boring ass cold game against a bad SMU team with the JJ Worton one handed catch in the last seconds for the win…it was a magical season but no where near the best like the KZ lead 2017 season. KZ to me is easily, hands down our best player ever and ambassador and it’s not even close.

How do you count 2018? And obviously I mean with a hypothetical healthy Milton at the end.
2018 ended with a loss in the NY6 bowl game. What made 2013 and 2017 so great is we were heavy underdogs and handily beat down the big bad P5 heavy weight.

2018 w/ KZ could have (most likely would have) been different.

A sad ending when a 30 year old with that many starts can’t make anyone’s 90 man roster.

Hope he enjoys his retirement.

I think its 72 including practice squad. Not sure at 30 he wanted practice squad money to get out of bed in morning.

The Jags are where NFL careers go to die. At least from 2004 - 2021. I can't say it will always be that way but for the longest time, they have just been terrible and when players develop, they trade them away. I kept praying they would trade Blake to a better team with a need when he was still in his first 5 years.
