All-Knowing Cooler,

I want to rent a pontoon boat on the St Johns River this weekend for someone's 30th birthday. Which marina do you recommend and where is a good place to put in at? Also, BTK will probably be bringing his boat too so it would be helpful if he can put in at the same place that we rent our boat.

My FIL uses Boat Tree marina in Sanford to put in. Easy to get to off i-4. Before they bought their own boat, they'd rent from there. According to him, they had a good selection to choose from and fair pricing.

I'd recommend hitting up the Swamp House in Debary for lunch. Plenty of slips, decent food, and good, drink specials.

We rented a houseboat from here for our 40th http://www.hollybluff.com/

St Johns is ok but there aren't really a lot of places to hang out/swim that's not the spring north of 44 (can't remember the name) where everyone and their mother goes.

What is this river like? Full of rocks and sand bars and underwater stumps? I'm envisioning this like the Suwannee and if you don't know where you're going up there you're going to lose your prop and skeg.

I'm waiting for BT to answer because I figured he frequented that river.

It looks like you can head to Blue Springs from the Boat Tree Marina? Maybe that will be the way to go.

Rent up my way and go to The Glen . Come back to castaways in Astor for some food and drinks later in the afternoon . See my Facebook from yesterday , that was our day. It's the best way we have found to spend a weekend day . I can Give you details about this or any alternate plans . Just let me know

Chewen tobbaccy, yellow teeth, unkept beard, cammoflage britches, and a big loud airboat.

Go over here on the St Johns and see for yourself. Right on highway 520. Lone cabbage fish camp, Good food, something that passes for music, Motorcycles, and airboats everywhere.

How freaking far do you think I'm going to tow my boat? MIght as well go all the way to JAX.

Isn't Astor supposed to be the most haunted city in Florida or something?

Google mapa isnt really showing a lot of places to rent from over there. Unfortunately castaways already rented out all their boats for saturday.
