Ask the Obama's where they would take separate planes for the same destination.serious question: is there a budget for how much money can be used for trips and extra security for a President?
I guess you missed the "serious question" part.Ask the Obama's where they would take separate planes for the same destination.
I heard it wasn't a drop of water the last 8 years. I guess it is this year.you are talking about a drop of water in the atlanta aquarium. yes it costs money, yea it sucks, but realistically its an after thought when you have planes that cost billions of dollars to make, and millions to service.
I guess you missed the "serious question" part.
Now we have Washington-WPB + New York-WPB (unless she goes NY-Washington or AF1 picks her off)
In the past, Trump has been sharply critical of the costs of presidential travel. He lambasted President Obama on Twitter for millions of dollars of "unbelievable!" travel expenses –- and suggested he spent more time golfing and campaigning than working for the American people.
In 2015, Trump went so far as to publicly pledge that he would "rarely leave the White House because there’s so much work to be done," The Hill reported. But so far, Trump has shown no indication he’s looking to cut down on his own presidential travel costs.
Combined with the Florida trips, Trump is on pace to charge taxpayers around $25 million for his first month in office. If this trend continues, the bill could be more than $300 million for the first year.
According to the conservative group Judicial Watch, during the eight years of Obama’s presidency, $97 million was billed to taxpayers.
That averages a little more than $12 million a year. When protecting Obama’s Chicago home is factored in, the total was around $18 million.
Ive never had a problem with how much we spend on keeping any of our presidents safe/secure. We learned that lesson the hard way, and I dont want to see it repeated.I heard it wasn't a drop of water the last 8 years. I guess it is this year.
I agree it sounds really high, but also keep in mind that Obama didn't keep two residences and occupy three spaces, and didn't have his kids jet-setting across the globe requiring protection.Something is wrong in those arguments. There is no way Trump trips will cost $300M in a year and Obama over eight years only cost $97M total.
Using the local PD costs is a fallacy as well. Local police will be used no matter where the President is.
I'm sure there is a large initial investment to secure new properties as well.
I agree it sounds really high, but also keep in mind that Obama didn't keep two residences and occupy three spaces, and didn't have his kids jet-setting across the globe requiring protection.
And local PD is reimbursed by the Feds to some degree, so yes, you do have to count it. NY originally asked for up to $35M, but in the end their cost has been about $24M.
Yeah, just looked at the Judicial watch article, they only tallyed SS and AF1 expenses. Yet it seems that the Trumps are still on a rapid pace to outspend the Obamas in security costs, which leads me to LOL at the line from the President of Judicial Watch:I know you have to count it, but the article is using it as an extra cost for Trump which it isn't. Local LEOs are used no matter where the POTUS is at.
If the 1st month is any indication, that reform is not happening.“The Obamas’ notorious abuse of presidential travel perks wasted military resources and stressed the Secret Service. Judicial Watch estimates that the final costs of Obama’s unnecessary vacation and political travel will well exceed $100 million,” said Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton. “President-elect Trump can immediately save taxpayers money by reforming presidential travel.”
It's not just the building - it's all the cops needed to close roads, the Coast Guard needed to clear boats away from both sides fo the estate, and the costs of flying AF1 down to WPB and back.how is him going to Florida that high when Mar a Lago already had the security infrastructure in place?
probably the per-diem for NYC (up to $300 for lodging and $74 for meals). Even that goes out of the window if the Secret Service officers have to pay more because they have to stay in Trump's hotel (they may be getting a discount)Not to mention Melania is staying in NYC only adding to the amount.
These numbers are really crazy. I do wonder how it gets this high. I'd love to see a pricing breakdown. Are these secret service agents eating Filet Mignon with ketchup sandwiches every day?

Also hotel rooms for all the people that has to move with him. I don't think they stay at Mar-a-Lago for free and WPB is expensiveIt's not just the building - it's all the cops needed to close roads, the Coast Guard needed to clear boats away from both sides fo the estate, and the costs of flying AF1 down to WPB and back.
