It does. Biden must have just realized that that just like a mask won't stop all the viruses from getting through, it will help. The wall won't stop the flow of illegals but it will help stem the flow. It is obvious that the wall is good, Biden is just slow. Maybe he will finish under the guise of filling in the gaps. Do you think he will get criticized for being a racist like Trump and all his supporters were?
No. They will ignore the topic altogether or figure out a way to blame Trump.
Biden is reasonable and during the primary he is was 1 of 3 that was against ending that 1 law that would have made illegal border crossings a civil citation(not asylum requests). Beto got ganged up on by Castro and Warren about it which I thought was stupid.

There is an asylum treaty among central and South American countries that allow people to enter their country if another country has become unstable. If people are leaving Guatemala because it's unsafe, they should claim asylum in Costa Rica or Belize. Much closer and every bit as safe as the US.

Which makes much more sense for them. The US follows the 1951 refugee protocols of the geneva convention. Just because your country is having economic or security problems doesn't mean you can claim asylum in the US. In all of the central American countries they can.
One thing that I have found interesting is the claim that most illegals in the United States are here on expired VISAs. That almost makes it sound like it's just a bunch of students just sticking around.
What they don't tell you is that if you come into the US and claim asylum, you are automatically given a temporary VISA. 90% of the people that cross the southern border that claim asylum never show up to the hearing to determine whether their claim is valid. So it isn't really a stretch to say that it actually is the illegal border crossers that constitute the vast majority of people here on expired VISAs.

But one thing about the Trump approach, it may have been as inhumane as hell but from a PR perspective it was an effective deterrent.
The trouble with Biden's PR is that he inadvertently gives families in God-awful, horrible conditions some hope, whether it's justified or not, when he says we won't allow kids to starve at the border. It's the humane thing to do and to say but, nevertheless, it feeds the beast.
It truly boggles the mind that parents would actually send off their children as young as nine-years-old on their own for hundreds of miles to seek refuge in the United States. It's hard to fathom that level of desperation on the part of a parent.
Parents get desperate all the time and do things that are detrimental to their children. Do that in the US and you don't get your kids back.
Which speaks volumes about how narrowly we look at this issue. YES, in the US, you would never get your kids back.
But in the US, any parent worth the title would never, ever, consider sending their young child off on such a deadly quest unless the 'status quo' was deemed deadlier.

Only the most hard core delusional libertarians are for completely open borders. What I don't understand is that while liberals will say they want a secure border they also will come up with tons of excuses why a border wall is a bad idea. Anybody with half a brain knows that a wall is a pretty effective first line of defense, and while not perfect its still a pretty cost effective way of maintaining control of the border.
For the record, there are a large number of economists across the political spectrum pushing open borders.
There are always caveats to taking that position. Sure, if we had open borders in between the US and other countries that had the same exact policies which were reciprocal, yes open borders is theoretically a good thing.
