Trumps original statement:
4 billion total cost paid by Mexico

Actual result:
15 million per mile paid by The United States 2000 miles
30 billion total cost

20 year life span of wall
1.5 billion per year (not including operating costs)

360,000 apprehensions at an effectiveness rate of 81%.
Number of non-apprehended illegals crossing the boarder per year 84,000

If the wall deters even an astronomical 60% it would stop 50k per year

1.5 billion per year cost (not including upkeep)
Increased effectiveness of 50k illegals stopped

$30,000 per illegal stopped. (Not including upkeep)

A colossal waste of money that no fiscal conservative should support.

Well worth the expense. Just the effect its going to have on lower class wages is huge for a lot of people who need a raise.

What will raise wages, the actual construction of the wall or some expected damping of illegal immigration volume?

Yes, because Joe and Sue Trailerpark are just chomping at the bit to get those super desirable strawberry picking and summer roofing jobs.

Remember the talking point "Americans won't do those jobs"? They will when employers have no choice but to raise wages because they cant hire 3$ an hour employees.

I’m thinking he doesn’t

We get hail storms here about every 2 or 3 years. When it happens, we are flooded with companies who use mostly illegal labor. The owners of the company get 100 off and 100 on, and pay the mexicans 30 for both. One crew can pretty easily do 30-35 squares a day, so the owner of the company is making 6-7 grand a day and only pays about about 1000 bucks.

I'm thinking you are a petty goddamn hypocrite who repeatedly mouths off without knowing what the hell you are talking about.

Back to crazyhole, I've roofed three houses in my lifetime precisely because of how much roofers cost. And yet I just paid over $10K to reroof my house not even a month ago, because it is hard backbreaking work. But the team of Mexicans who showed up got it done in literally 10 hours, and that includes removing the old shingles (which I didn't do when I roofed since it was legal to do roof overs). These people were happy to do the job thanks to open trade.

Like I said, there's nothing stopping Americans from doing this, and yet they don't in most of the country. If we follow our asinine POTUS' guide to "MAGA" we are going to be paying probably double to reroof houses, and pick produce, just to name a few.

MAGA!!! Keep them dirty Mexicans out!

Dumbass, redneck, racist, "fiscally conservative," Republicans wasting more money in the name of hate. What else is new?

You won't be paying more. The employer will just make less because he won't have the cheap labor anymore. Insurance companies derermine the going price and that isn't going up just because a roofer cant afford a new 70,000 dollar pickup every year. He'll just have to buy a new one every other year.

You need to chill . First off I can promise you I’ve most likely dealt with migrant labor from a managerial and hiring standpoint more than you ever will . Dealt with it pretty much every day of my adult life . I know what these workers do and how they milk the system , both the legals and the illegals .
Secondly I have no idea what your problem is but it’s getting tiresome . Zero reason for your mouth and your attacks constantly . I’ve always been civil here and even reached out to folks like you before . You need to learn to control your temper tantrums and stop thinking it makes you look smart to insult people that you have absolutely zero clue about , and you know even less about their life experiences

Nothing added by you except childish insults . Maybe you could make a cute remark about my wife now . It’s your next step

Give me a break, you repeatedly attack me and turn a blind eye to others doing the same simply because you agree politically. It's old. I honestly don't give a damn what you think, so save it. You have proven time and time again you have turned into a massive hypocrite. This post is a perfect example, you mouthed off with your ignorant and completely wrong opinion and now are lashing back because I called you out (yet again) on your bullshit.

Yeah so you fail basic economics if you think doubling the wage of roofers/workers won't affect the price of their product. Joe Trailerpark won't roof at Mexican prices as is already proven, so they will have to pay more to attract them to do so.

"At the federal, state, and local levels, taxpayers shell out approximately $134.9 billion to cover the costs incurred by the presence of more than 12.5 million illegal aliens, and about 4.2 million citizen children of illegal aliens."

how much was the cost of the wall again? doesnt seem as bad to me now.

also i dont think that takes into account the illegal drug trade that goes on. will it stop the drug trade? of course not, but it will make it harder and that is a win.

Did you read my post laying out how the money is distributed between the employer and the laborer? Or where I stated that insurance companies set the price? Its already an inflated market, it isnt going to go up because the employer has to pay more for his workers while he sits in the truck.

Do you have any idea how much money can be made roofing?
i personally know the owner of a very large roofing company. his company has done several jobs at the kennedy space center. he even redid the ucf wellness center. he has had dinner with a former president while in office. the guy is extremely wealthy. hes also the hardest working man ive ever met in my life.

Anyone know when wonderful commie pope or Israel will destroy its "Dumbass, redneck, racist, "fiscally conservative," walls? Ditto the limo liberals who live behind walls.

Last month we had a drug bust on a traffic stop where they found enough fentanyl to kill 26 million people. Care to guess where it came into the country?

Trump likes airstrikes.

I think an airstrike on Tijuana would drive the Mexicans back down to Mexico City, depopulate the border region and cut off all sewage.

Yeah man, it really made me question your intelligence especially when you doubled down on it. You do realize that people pay the insurance companies, right? So if all the cheap labor leaves, roofers will have to pay more to hire workers that previously would not work at the cheap labor rate, this raises the costs of roofing leading to a lower supply of roofers willing to do the job, insurance companies will have to increase their payouts and thus we have to pay higher premiums. Your comments about workers sitting in the trucks makes zero sense.

Ninja and chemmie I’d like to know if the 2 of you have any practical experience in hiring , certifying or managing migrant labor . Unlike the 2 of you I don’t just assume I know everything and start throwing around personal insults . Like I told you earlier , our industry is predominantly migrant labor . We have worked with the government for years on their programs to get workers legally when needed . I’ve seen the impacts both good and bad on our community , schools, Neighborhoods and businesses of both legal and illegal immigrants . I have employees who I’d trust in my house much more than either of you . I’ve also seen the other side . Like having federal marshals show up looking for an employee for some serious shit and seeing how much money some essentially steal from taxpayers , and they have a government paid advocate teaching them how . So before you call me a dumb redneck and pretend I’m not educated in your silly little childish bullshit , you might want to brush up on your facts

The owner sits in the truck. He brings in crews of illegals because he can pay them shit wages, not because its the only way he can make money. He could pay double the amount and still be making bank, and the insurance company isnt going to pay more just because he wants more. There are a lot of people who will work for 6 grand a day, open up what is a flooded market and you'll have plenty of citizens willing to jump in. I did it a couple of times because its better pay than being an electrician.

Ok, so you are basing it off of the fact that roofing company owners are making crazy profit right now by paying illegals lower wages. I still think that if you cut those profits down many roofing companies will close up and this will increase the price of roofing.

No, it will open up the market. Fewer cheap laborers means opportunity for people to jump into business. The existing companies won't be able to take on as many jobs because they won't have the manpower, which is the only thing keeping competition down.

I really wish you were smart enough to realize you are just proving BT to be even more of a hypocrite. You respond to BTs post whining about personal attacks....with a personal attack, bt likes it. Thus the cycle of BTs hypocrisy continues.

To bt, congrats on proving my point.

Lol I'm just going to have to disagree with you here, I really don't think fewer workers will result in more companies.

Well we got off point anyway. Even if prices go up, its still due to workers making more money which was where i started. Meat packing will definitely result in higher prices at the store, but again it will be due to workers making higher wages. Ag wont totally be the same way because some grains and produce prices arent dictated by the producer, but some are
