Rumored in ESPN ... but here is some info on him:

Oklahoma sophomore guard Calvin Newell Jr. has left the program and will transfer, coach Lon Kruger announced Thursday.

Newell, a native of Philadelphia, was second on the team in scoring, averaging 13 points per game through the Sooners' first five games of the season.

Interesting thing about Newell is that DJ tried to recruit him back when Calvin was at a private school in Charlotte but he ended up signing with Head Coach Jeff Capel at Oklahoma.

Well, Capel was fired back in the Spring...and Lon Kruger, new OU Head Coach, has never been known for a fast-paced offensive style, which suits Newell so UCF certainly benefited from this coaching change.

Smart move by Newell to decide to transfer NOW so he will be eligible to play in mid-Dec 2012 after enrolling at UCF next month.

With Newell, CJ Reed & Marcus playing guard next year...thats some good scoring right there...and with Reed and Marcus being Seniors...Newell will have a lot more responsibility during his final 2 years at UCF.

Interesting transfer. Should help in the transition to the BE. Wonder how he started out wanting to be closer to home and then ends up in Orlando.
