CBS BIG12 Alignment Article

Not perfect, but makes about as much sense as possible (keep in mind, you don't want Kansas and Kansas State in different divisions):

Just for perception (not reality) sake I'd rather the new teams were split evenly in divisions. Yes they might be better than the originals on the field, but that's not perception. I'd rather not be in the 'weak' division because half of it is newcomers. So I like the North South projection in the article better.

By splitting Texas and OU into separate divisions.

It guarantees UCF a home game vs Texas or OU in either 2023 or 2024.

Labeled as NORTH and SOUTH, But based on the layout could easily be EAST and WEST in fact how can you consider Iowa State in the south.. So West Virginia is the one that is questionable for the SOUTH
UPDATE I See Iowa State should be in the North on your chart

Swap out WV for Oklahoma State and that should work good, too.

I think WVU makes the most sense and could be a big rivalry in the future. For one its much closer than Okla State by a couple hundred miles. Also they have a huge alumni base in Florida so I think the games are an instant sell out (basketball included). Also they do a lot of recruiting here so if we are beat them yearly than some of those dudes that head to Morgantown might stay home. I like being in the same div as WVU and Cincy.

WV and Cincinnati need to be in the same division because they are so close. We are kind of on an island. We don't have a good rivalry with anyone but Cincinnati. My only knock on the Big 12 for UCF. Adding Memphis would give us another team that we have history with.

I suspect Memphis is still going to happen based on their basketball tradition, once Okee and Texas leaves for the SEC.. Wonder who the other team will be? maybe Boise

I was watching a few shows on YouTube about the Big 12 alignment the other day. They said the reason behind Oklahoma and Texas being in different divisions was for when they leave it would be very easy to drop the next 2 into their spots. Ex. Memphis takes Texas spot in the East and Boise take Oklahoma spot in the West.

I’m pretty sure they wanted that to be a possibility for Big 12 Championship Game.

2023 and 2024 for UH in The Big 12 South IF this holds up, is literally the equivalent to UCF in The ACC. This is a really exciting time for us.

If so, we should be getting a lot of news about the B12 over the next several months, including UCF/Cinci/Houston finally coming to agreement with the AAC about exit fee and conference divisions (if any).

I hope they get creative with the divisions. The "protected rivalries" idea sounds fun to me. The Big12 needs an edge to draw as many eyes as possible.
